This is so cool. With just a little bit of modification using a single 3d printed part glued to the side of the head of a 3d printer this japanese team managed to create a fully autonomous robot that can basically built its own tools, pick them up, and then use them to manipulate its environment.

I also like that "communal software" doesn't say anything about source code, which I think could be more welcoming for people contributing in ways that are not programming.

@lupyuen This is why I am here. Academia is not a safe space for free thought anymore. Everything I say in emails has to be excessively polite. It is kind of stifling.

This applies to 0% of people I know here in their dealings with ME, but it may apply to you who are within meeting distance of the bereft: #advice
"When greeting someone who just went through a difficult time say "It's good to see you" rather than "how are you doing", or "how's it going". This will feel more sincere, while giving the grieving person an 'out' from an awkward/difficult conversation they might not be ready to have."
