I don't care that the official Reddit client is terrible. I just hate that the mobile site now has a popup on every visit forcing it down your throat.
@girlgerms
Your scope went from narrow to everything very quickly. Who is the target audience?
@stux
Agreed. This kind of gambling targets those who can't afford it. The bourgeoisie elite don't waste their money on the lottery and if they do it's such a small proportion of their wealth it is inconsiquential. It's so depressing seeing people throw away their money in the hope they can claw their way out of living paycheck to paycheck.
@syntacticsugarglider
Came for classic bash.org and was not dissapointed.
@seb
Yes, it is still the easiest way to boot into the latest kernel and make sure all your applications and services have restarted into the new versions. There are methods to boot into the new kernel without restarting but it's not worth it unless you can't stand any downtime.
@stux
Damn. Glad I didn't ever get around to trying it out.
You hit the nail on the head. I use these services to avoid being part of the big corporate ecosystem otherwise I would have just stayed on WhatsApp.
The trend towards having the username and password on two separate pages is realllllly annoying.
While trying to work out why web designers are doing this I came across this page (https://www.twilio.com/blog/why-username-and-password-on-two-different-pages) which basically seems to conclude it isn't necessary and just confuses people and auto-type password managers.
Anyone here run a website that does this? Why? Do you hate your users?
@flamingkeys My day is good! Drinking some yerba mate while working from home. How's yours?
I agree that Mastodon is a refreshing change from other social media platforms. Influencers and those trying to be influencers have ruined the others.
@girlgerms If you were a real Australian you would have just cupped it in your hand ;)
Doing all the behind the scenes work to improve our career streams, and inter org relations is one of my favourite parts of my job. Hacking away is fun, but bringing people in and seeing them progress through a well defined career structure has way more long term satisfaction.

Any single source of reviews is going to be susceptable to bias. My point was that I don't trust a company, such as the BBB, who's entire funding model is based around charging businesses for preferential listings. As with everything read a variety of sources and good and bad reviews and make up your own mind.
@thenewoil
The incorporation of a podcast player is bizarre. I hope this isn't another step towards paywalling a system designed to be open. Spotify has already done enough damage on that front.
@fortune
Of course. How else are you meant to get your iron?
Very easy to get online burnout at the moment - the social aspects and atmosphere are my favourite part of a con. I'll blame you if this one isn't good =p
@superruserr
Thanks for the link. If I'm free I'll definitely tune in.
@thenewoil
Improving diversity as a productivity gain is pretty late stage capitalism. Can't we just improve diversity by removing discriminatory barriers because it's the right thing to do?
@resist1984
I think it has been long established that the BBB has passed its expiry. I'd much rather read some public reviews and make an informed and less biased opinion.
@girlgerms
Why? There are loads of e-pub readers for mobile.
I'm skeptical of it being the same actors. Their continued business is reliant on then sticking to their word otherwise why would anyone pay them? It's mostly just orgs don't patch the issues that allowed them to be compromised in the first place.
