Don't forget: You should show the world what you're working on. They'll love it.

An empty lantern provides no light. Self-care is the fuel that allows your light to shine brightly. ~ anonymous

Wow! Please think about yourself too. You deserve care as much as anyone else.

@Wetrix thank you for your kind words and no worries about saying anything about my mother, as I’m not offended at all - you are right; if she didn’t take pleasure in the pain she was inflicting on me, she wouldn’t have laughed while doing it. It’s sickening. I just remind myself that I was a child; I could not escape; I had no choice. I survived as best as I could.

Put your phone down. Step away from the computer. Not forever, just for a couple minutes.

Sometimes a garden needs more water today than yesterday. Sometimes it needs more sunlight this week than last. Gardens have growing seasons and fallow seasons. We don’t get mad at the garden for this; we just give it whatever it needs and take care of it. What if we treated ourselves the same way more often? ❤️

Wow this meatloaf recipe was absolutely terrible. I’m not even sure what to tweak about it to make it better. Best to throw away the entire recipe I think and try from another source, yikes.

Set an alarm so you remember to eat regular meals if you have a tendency to get caught up in work and forget.

@Wetrix yeah, she also used to make me write pages of “I will not (whatever bad thing I did)” & then tape the pages on the front door so “everyone could see how bad” (her words) I’d been. When she took out Dad’s belt to whack me, I would start sobbing/begging not to be hit & she would laugh & say “oh come on, don’t be so dramatic” before I moved out, she still thought she made no mistakes raising me. So I have mixed feelings on this cancer news from Dad. :/

Dad told me that last year Mom had lung cancer. She’s a non-smoker (he was the smoker). I have not a single happy memory in my childhood of Mom. She regularly would say things like “I’m not your real mother; I just found you in the trash one day and felt bad so I took you home” and other terrible things. I don’t know still how I feel about the news that she had and beat cancer.

Take a few moments and think about the apps on your phone. Can you delete any of them?

@TheDoctor yield is supposed to be 24 cookies but I cut into 8 pizza slices (I have round pans) and let it chill in the fridge to firm it up nice and tightly. You can sprinkle sugar on top or whatever toppings you prefer before baking. I got the base recipe from Food.com. Enjoy!!

@TheDoctor sure, no problem! 1 egg, 1 cup softened butter, 1/2 cup sugar, 2 1/2 cup flour. 1. Preheat oven to 300 F. 2. Cream butter & sugar together. 3. Add flour & mix until texture is like clay. 4. This is where I also mixed in the egg (used hand mixer on lowest speed). 5. Press dough into ungreased baking pan (I also sprinkle top of dough with cinnamon here). 6. Bake for 40-45 min (golden edges/lightly browned). 7. Cut into slices or squares while still warm then let cool in pan to firm.

Made the shortbread recipe again, but added 1 egg to see if it solved the “too dry” issue - success! It’s the exact texture I wanted the first time. 😋 Time to write it down on my recipe cards for the tin.
