At first, @matrix was "just" a modern alternative to IRC to talk on GNOME channels for me.

But the more I use it, the more I enjoy it. Having your own instance is really pleasant.

Of course not everyone is a systems administrator, let alone a competent one. There is a real need for small managed instances.

For people insterested, Element offers Element Home, a 10-person managed instance:

Alternatively, Etke offers to manage services for you:

@libravatar @ilpianista thanks for that PR, great feeling when people feel passionate enough to contribute 馃

There had been an earlier libravatar issue and at that moment, I had to put it on hold because of (poor) code design choices I had made 馃槓

With the Keyoxide 3.0.0 rewrite, this is now feasible. We must give key holders the choice of avatar provider. But I wouldn't mind setting defaults that favor decentralized options!

Just noticed, the current Tor Browser has this option activated as well (at least on my phone) ... can your real IP be revealed by JS when opening a PDF file? ...I'm not an expert here.. just asking 馃

There's a (german) vid about JS in PDFs at YT with a testing PDF (creates a popup message) mentioned here:

All but set on services from my two VPSs to a single at @linode. I also want to weigh up vs , particularly in terms of setting up reverse proxies so I can have multiple services running on subdomains. Thoughts?

If anyone feels like translating my guide to another language. We have setup a translation system using Transifex. This requires basic GitHub knowledge (and a fork of the project) and a Transifex account. I'm interested in translators and reviewers. Contact me if you're interested. Currently there is one translation going into Russian which could probably use some help.

hmm, I'd like to get off of GitHub because it's owned by Microsoft.

but GitLab is hosted on the Google Cloud, which is hardly an improvement...

SDF does git hosting and offers web pages but I lost my password for my shell account and I dunno if I want to bug them about it since I'm not a paying member.

The Tor Project is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. Every donation keeps Tor strong. Plus, we accept nine different cryptocurrencies ($XBT, $BCH, $DASH, $DOGE, $ETH, $LTC, $XMR, $XLM, & $ZEC).

What provider do you use and why? I use DNS Watch by default as it's preset in and my modem. I was originally drawn to for its promises of and no , but I've since noticed all the bad press. I'm interested in OpenDNS and LibreDNS but it would be good to read some kind of in-depth comparison if one is available.

I thought it had the Model M look and feel to it... but the originals had a single row of function keys.

And then there is the steampunk version

What type of course would you find most valuable? (Comment with any suggestions or other thoughts.)

Set up a spare as a mixnode for their testnet, and a Xmrig miner. Will soon have posts written guiding others to do the same.

I've now nuked and paved my 4B for the 4th time. By now I've learnt from experience that SDs aren't meant to last holding the entire filesystem. After another case of "Segmentation fault" (likely corrupted SD), I've moved the filesystem to a USB. Depending on performance, I may reattempt moving everything to a partition of a 1TB HDD being used primarily for .
