Developer singlehandedly solves some bugs causing the slow loading times that have been plaguing GTA V Online since 2013. Without access to source code. Game made by multimillion company.

I used to think minimal, distraction-free writing in #GNULinux couldn't get better than #FocusWriter, but this weekend I discovered the power of #Vim and its potential as a 'daily driver' for #writing as well as #coding. Currently putting some thoughts together for an upcoming #blog post on this subject.
My latest for HackerNoon on how easy it is to achieve privacy online. Fear of tech doesn't have to be an obstacle to internet privacy.

@micahflee Hi Micah, just wanted to say it's amazing what you've done with OnionShare. I've been running a persistent .onion version of my own static site for a while now, but I'd love to also try the dropbox and chat features soon. The new docs also look great, and they're now on my reading list. 👍

Now that the new OnionShare has better command line support, I just wrote a guide explaining how to run your own anonymous Tor dropbox on a Raspberry Pi. Check it out: https://micahflee.com/2021/02/onionshare-anonymous-dropbox-raspberry-pi/

The #AdTech industry, especially Facebook, is very upset about Apple’s plan to require App Store developers to ask for users’ permission in order to track them online. Our privacy maverick @ds_m4riano explains.

Do you know someone who has recently claimed #UniversalCredit (UK welfare benefit) or helped someone else to claim it?
I'm leading an 11-week project to try and make it easier for the 25% of people who currently fail to register for UC remotely.
We're just into the prototyping phase and so are looking for (remunerated) user testers.
DM me if you've got leads. Boosts appreciated.

This weekend, success =
- Steadily growing local #Plex media server
- Setting up #OpenVPN connection to my #LAN for #RaspberryPi IP camera and Plex streaming
- Isolating work devices on the LAN
- Discovering no new issues (more to come, I'm sure).
I dread to think how many hours I could have saved when reinstalling/reconfiguring software if I had my own #documentation. Now one of my main tasks is going to be creating a personal #wiki of sorts in #Joplin, my #notes app of choice.

For anyone interested in the #FOSS tool I use for all my #elearning projects, it's called #Adapt and I wrote a #Bash script to get you up and running quickly on #Debian or #Ubuntu:
https://gitlab.com/5am/adapt-deb-setup
Since switching to a minimal #Debian install for my #RaspberryPi 4, I've been pleased with the overall performance, and it's now also running #Plex.
I do miss the easy config of my #GPIO fan. Previously I easily set it to come on when the CPU reached 55°C, but I can't figure out how to target it manually from the #terminal. I'm happy to write a #Bash #script for the task of monitoring and triggering the power. But I can't do that until I figure out the commands.
Any ideas?

By default, they're saved forever but you can change the setting to "never" here (currently linked to US site, but you can edit Amazon URL to your region):
