@session
This why I'm always rather uneasy about leaving my headset plugged into my work Windows PC. Ya just never know...
I taught an art class in April and the most important thing I told the class was:
If you think your drawing "has to" be "good" in order for you to be "allowed" to draw, if you're afraid of making bad drawings, you're never gonna finish a drawing and never get good.
Give yourself permission to draw without worrying about quality. Don't even ask "is this good", ask: Am I enjoying it? Am I learning from it? Am I finishing things?
It applies to writing, music, game design, etc. as well
🙄 I've opted out (again)

@nikolal
Very true. The only thing stopping me from trying it is hardware. And I agree, it's not necessary for most use cases.
@loke
I really wanted to try it out but my spare Thinkpad x131e didn't have the minimum hardware requirements. Damn shame.
@micahflee
@FreePietje
So far I've had no luck even installing it (due to X not starting, a common driver issue, I think), so I don't imagine I'll even get round to trying it, at least anytime soon. I think maybe for my purpose and threat model, and because I'm happy with my current setup, VirtualBox VMs are the probably the way to go.
Anyone here use #Qubes? I'd be interested to know your thoughts. I have a spare laptop and feel like trying it out. I love the idea of compartmentalisation and #virtualisation for maximum #privacy and #security, just don't know yet if I'd want to use it on a daily basis, and how it compares to just spinning up multiple VMs in #VirtualBox.
How safe is to use an internal #SSD without an enclosure? For context: this would be indoors, connected 24/7 via SATA-to-USB as extended storage for a #RaspberryPi. Maybe there's a lifehack for a homemade enclosure?
What's your preferred mobile app for #Mastodon, and why?
@resist1984
This is concerning, especially considering there are better captcha alternatives and Proton's aim is to provide their own Google-style suite but for the privacy-conscious.
Just published Google lawsuit evidence indicates that like always retained users' location data, even if disabled in user interface, to the extent that its own employees flashed LineageOS on their phones to avoid tracking. Full thread on https://twitter.com/jason_kint/status/1398353211220807682
@TheDoctor
But then it goes back to the previous point about avoiding spending too long on setup. Since discovering i3 and becoming familiar with it and making it my daily driver I don't feel I'm missing out on anything. I will check out your suggestions though. Hadn't heard of them before.
@TheDoctor That's a good point, and I have been known to get sucked into that trap of obsessing over configs, but luckily I tend to stop once I'm genuinely happy with things. It was similar with my i3wm config.
I've taken the plunge and decided to make #Vim my full-time #editor, for #development as well as writing. I was always happy with #Atom but I've had enough of the painful performance I get from running it alongside other necessary apps. Let me know your Vim plugin recommendations for development with mostly #CSS, Less and #JavaScript.
Today, the Grand Chamber of the @ECHR_CEDH, Europe’s highest human rights court, confirms UK surveillance regime was unlawful.
In 2013, after @Snowden's revelations, we brought the UK government to court together with many other NGOs.
More on the judgment soon...

The European Court of Human Rights' judgment on the 10 Human Rights Organisations case is due on 25 May. We sat down with whistleblower @Snowden@twitter.com last year to discuss what this case means for surveillance not only in the UK, but around the world. 🧵/1
