@redstarfish
I'd put on my GPL t-shirt and dive in.
@Stellar Yep, I use my Pi 24/7, albeit for nothing too heavy. Nevertheless, something is clearly not right with it. I'm going to have to look into mounting filesystem onto SSD or m.2 as a safer, more reliable method. I have a spare m.2 but no adapter, so looks like for now I'll need to try the SSD via USB method.
@Stellar I'm sure I'll do the same once I can fix my SD filesystem/storage corruption issue.
@selea Yeah, that's probably the sad truth: it comes down to money. I really didn't expect this sort of thing to happen, but it just goes to show seemingly the most principled groups out there can drop a bombshell like this.
Now I get why people are reluctant to use SDs in their #RaspberryPi. I have what's quite clearly a worn or corrupted SD (which is used for the whole filesystem). I'm getting #dpkg fatal errors, terminal quirks and all sorts of funny business. Fingers crossed a #fsck can do the trick. If not, I'll need to reinstall everything :( I think I should invest in an m.2 adapter or just plug in a spare SSD via USB and mount the filesystem on that. Any better suggestions? I use this Pi 24/7 for #DNS.
@eliasr Raspbian has added "packages.microsoft...", mainly for VS Code, I think. The main cause for concern being that 1) They didn't tell anyone this would happen (as far as I know) and 2) Microsoft knows (and collects data about) every time you run `apt update` etc. with that list enabled.
@FreePietje I've just discovered this for myself and I'm disgusted.
What the F*** is #Microsoft doing in my Pi's apt sources list. This is some bitter irony - I use this almost exclusively for #Pihole. I was wondering what all the hype was about recently and now it's clear. Where can I find out more about why this has happened and what, if anything, is being done about it?

New post: Why I Still Use RSS
"Nextcloud can replace many of the online apps you use for collaboration, organization, and task management."
https://opensource.com/article/21/1/nextcloud-productivity
@nextcloud I'm trying my hardest to give @nextcloud an equal footing in an #elearning course I'm having to produce on remote and home working. I'm sick of only seeing Teams, Slack etc. put forward as options for team collab. I'm going to have trouble holding back when it comes to the #privacy and #security modules!

@simon Well, good luck! I've just embarked on my next short post re this new freelearning Matrix room I've launched. Pop by if you're interested. It's only two of us so far! We need as many people as possible interested free/open education and FOSS.
@simon
I used to kid myself I'd do a post a week, then I tried for one a month. Now it's been months since I last wrote a post. I find the hardest thing is coming up with enough ideas.
I've now created a public #freelearning #Element room at freelearningfoss:matrix.org -- My intention is to use this room to bring together anyone interested in contributing to #elearning made with #FOSS. I may soon start a range of courses on #Linux subjects. Join the room and share your thoughts!
@FreePietje
This is a great idea and I've just started using it to improve details in my area. But I'll need to get an account before I can upload my answers to the quests etc.
