@self Indeed. I think at the very least everyone should have Wi-Fi and bluetooth switched off unless needed.

@dsvdv
Yes I had to install it through FFUpdater but it's worth it. I'm more concerned if the software itself is proprietary rather than just things like logos.

Do you have a preferred technique for limiting mobile/cell phone tracking?

@dsvdv
Yeah I really like it. I also used Fennec for a long time but have since grown tired of its slow speed and lack of dark mode (minor issue, I know). Happy with Firefox Preview now. I think it ticks all the boxes.

That's the thing: this is a screenshot of the DuckDuckGo mobile browser. If they aren't blocking those trackers then no one is. Never mind. I prefer Firefox Preview now, with uBlock Origin installed. Much more control, as well as Firefox profile synching.
@duckduckgo

I made three new friends today, and the second introduced me to the third:

@shreyas It's OK so far actually. I'm used to uBlock Origin so it seems familiar enough. I'll gradually build up my preferences as I return to my favourite sites etc.

@techit Thanks for letting me know. Do you mean you're trying to subscribe to samhowell.uk/feed.xml -- that is the feed location, but something may have gone wrong when I did some recent upgrades. Please try the above link and let me know if it still doesn't work.

@FreePietje Thanks, I've also got a tutorial video lined up (invidious.snopyta.org/watch?v=). By now I'm very familiar with the trial and error involved in finding the balance needed to view sites but still block unnecessary/bad scripts and domains, as I've been using uBlock Origin for about a year.

I'm about to jump down the rabbit hole that is . Wish me luck...

As a novice I first took a shine to Python, which I love for its readability and relative ease of use, though I'm still new to it and want to learn more in the future, maybe try a word adventure game or something. I'm a Debian user and like organisation/management, so enjoy writing the occasional Bash script. Recently started learning JavaScript which is challenging, but I know it will be incredibly useful once I'm more familiar with it.
