@techit
Yes, it's decentralised which is the main reason I like it. And it also doesn't require phone numbers (though I believe Signal are currently working to introduce this feature soon as well). I wouldn't replace Signal yet as it's more developed and established, and it took me quite a while to get family and friends to use it. But maybe the future is Session or even something else. I also wish I could use my private XMPP server more - 1/2
Hey folx. I'm writing a free book called Riot Medicine to help teach people first aid for protests, riots, and insurrections. Ⓐ 🏴 ⚕️
Some volunteers have already completed illustrations, but there's still many more that are needed before this can be distributed. If you're able to help out (even with just a single illustration!) get in touch.
You can find out more at https://riotmedicine.net
Examples of content (including illustrations) are provided below.
@debacle @jr So how come it's showing 0.6 here: https://packages.debian.org/buster/profanity
@self Cool, maybe instance maintainers can configure rules for that kind of thing, I'm not sure. Let me know if you find out how to do it 👍
#Njalla have created a clean and simple #DNS checker: https://check.njal.la/dns
@Tj if you mean follow up with evidence data won't be tracked, that's difficult as it depends entirely on the policies of the specific instance. If you mean arguments for why not being tracked is important, there are tonnes of articles and other resources out there. I'm also currently writing an elearning course called Digital Privacy Essentials, so watch this space!
@wiktor
Yes, I will keep it private and just add family and friends manually if they're interested.
@self I don't think it's possible, presumably to stop people flooding their profiles with links. Otherwise I'd add my other git profile etc. We must choose our 4 wisely!
@self Glad to hear it. It's a great tool indeed. If only it had the network effect email does!

Many thanks to @syntax for his contribution to #Samizdat:

This is a much-needed nudge for me to get back to hacking on this project.
@rysiek Happy to help, and good luck with your demos!
@rysiek @Shufei @tomasino I also imagine the OONI project would be interested in hearing about this, due to its anti-censorship nature: https://ooni.org/
@debacle Thanks, that's what I use, although stable repo only had version 0.6. I ended up using backports and now have 0.9 installed :)
@nextcloud
I'm a big fan (and happy current user) of Nextcloud. Is there currently much of a need for documentation editing/proofreading? This is something I could contribute.
