Hi, I'm Graeme , from North West England.

I worked in IT for many years, but became tired of the "mainstream" industry and big data companies.

I am a big #privacy advocate, believing in the freedom to control our own data in the cloud and on our devices, supporting people where I can with this. Long term #Linux user, #raspberrypi tinkerer, #retrocomputing enthusiast.

Hoping there's lots of like-minded people here on fosstodon!

Can anyone recommend an online store, preferably accepting crypto and based in the , which sells pentesting gear ( adapters suitable for monitor mode etc.)? All roads in my research seem to lead back to the terrible two I want to avoid: eBay and Amazon.

I know of and , but neither sell wifi adapters (which is specifically what I'm after).

Brilliant idea #1244152143:

Famous depictions of scenes from the new testament but instead of jesus it's Totoro

You're welcome.

@nesob39@lor.sh Yeah, it was amazing to see (in an elearning course) how easy it can be to bypass what the average user may think is a secure machine.

@blacklight447 Good idea. Personally I don't really need to go to those lengths as my laptop never leaves the house. I have a "travel" netbook which is stripped of any personal info and which I just use on the road for writing, browsing etc.

that without full disk encryption or locking down your config, an attacker with physical access to your system can simply edit the boot parameters (adding an "s" for single user (root), or "init=/bin/bash")) and boot straight into a root shell.

Wow. The response here has been absolutely overwhelming. Many more replies, dms, and boosts than I expected. This is inspiring and I feel a responsibility to turn this attention into something meaningful.

So,
I will be launching a forum and irc channel to facilitate furthering these (many) ideas and conversations.

I've bookmarked every response to the parent post; if you'd like to be notified when the forum and irc go live just reply to this parent toot, or DM me.

My turn to give back now ❤️

The [Matrix].org Merch Store is open for business! There's no better way to appreciate your favourite #decentralised protocol than wearing branded clothes and covering all your stuff with stickers! shop.matrix.org/

I've spent the weekend away from my desk (probably a good thing), but I'm looking forward to getting back to a new week of :javascript: training.

@nebunez
I'm only just starting out in the wonderful world of programming and development, otherwise I'd love to help!

Hey fediverse!

I'm looking for some motivated computer programmers to learn and collaborate with.

I am the sole developer at my job, and the (mostly) sole developer for all of my side projects; and to be frank, I've been lonely.

My goals are to further study mathematics and computer programming fundamentals in order to become a true professional and not just some "guy who makes webapps". I want to contribute meaningfully to my field and the world.

Feel free to boost, dm, and share links.

The @EU_Commission is currently examining the @google @Fitbit merger. PI wants regulators to block a merger that will give Google too much info & power.

If you are as freaked out as we are, then join the #NotOnOurWatch campaign.

Would two buttons to jump back/forward by 10 seconds be a sufficient replacement for a tracker bar on Mastodon audio posts?
