I used to think minimal, distraction-free writing in #GNULinux couldn't get better than #FocusWriter, but this weekend I discovered the power of #Vim and its potential as a 'daily driver' for #writing as well as #coding. Currently putting some thoughts together for an upcoming #blog post on this subject.

I do have NERDTree installed and I think it's great, but I haven't found myself using it much yet, probably because I'm just not on in Vim enough. But I'm more used to just navigating directories on the command line or in Ranger, so I can see myself neglecting NERDTree. I'll certainly give it a chance.

Thanks. I'm also linking my own vimrc in my upcoming blog post.
@syntax Yeah in a desktop env it may not be quite as useful, but I use vim a lot on remote machines. The config I use is based on this one if you want to check it out: https://github.com/tlhunter/vimrc
