I used to think minimal, distraction-free writing in couldn't get better than , but this weekend I discovered the power of and its potential as a 'daily driver' for as well as . Currently putting some thoughts together for an upcoming post on this subject.

@syntax are you using nerdtree or something similar? I have a nice vim config I use at work that I found somewhere a long time ago with a lot of nice features you'd never expect to be able to use in vim so smoothly.

I do have NERDTree installed and I think it's great, but I haven't found myself using it much yet, probably because I'm just not on in Vim enough. But I'm more used to just navigating directories on the command line or in Ranger, so I can see myself neglecting NERDTree. I'll certainly give it a chance.

@syntax Yeah in a desktop env it may not be quite as useful, but I use vim a lot on remote machines. The config I use is based on this one if you want to check it out: github.com/tlhunter/vimrc
