so sad i had to buy an ASUS phone and run LineageOS on it, instead of my real dream....buying a Pinephone.

The moment camera is working on UBPorts, i'm there!

I am liking LineageOS but the whole custom ROM scene is so fragmented.

"Let's develop this OS on hundreds of different phones that become obsolete in 2 years, and then start all over again"
YEAH!

I think the Pinephone/Linux phone community is much more sustainable for the long term.

I've only been on LineageOS for a few weeks. I'm still trying to see if I should roll the dice and do full-disk encryption or will that break things.

anybody have insight into FDE on custom ROMs?

@tootbrute I've been a happy LineageOS 16 user for more than a year now and have had no problems since installing it (on a Samsung S5). I've also had no issues with full-disk encryption.

I think one of the best things about custom ROMs is device longevity. Some of these older Samsung models would simply not be secure otherwise.

I'm most excited for the Pinephone (and Pinetab) to really take off. If they were currently available I'd definitely buy them.
