Privacy and ads - It's real scary shit

After almost a year of not touching my gaming console, I bought two games today.

Five minutes later, the first ad that appears on YouTube on my TV (WITHOUT signing into my account) is for, guess what? A videogame.

The really scary part? My console and my TV are on different routers, each going to a different ISP.

😬

I didn't know you could use two different ISPs for the same property. Does that require two telephone lines?

@syntax Yes. Job forced me to use their favorite ISP in order to work from home. Yaaaay capitalism 🙄

Damn... Since working from home I've had to use my work Windows machine (including Teams calls etc) without a VPN. Sucks. I did expect more from IT to be honest...

@syntax Why not install cygwin ssh on it? It's so much more convenient :blobwink:

I can imagine trying to explain that to IT (who would need to provide authorisation)! The closest I've got to running Linux on my work machine is a Debian VM, and that's only permitted because it's kind of sandboxed and I genuinely need it to run certain software. It's a breath of fresh air every time I boot it!
