I really enjoyed "Life is Strange" and "Firewatch", and have been pleased to find a few other 3D adventure games that emphasize storytelling and choice.
"State of Mind" by Daedalic also adopts the 3D adventure formula. It does a good job with the storytelling part, while offering fewer meaningful choices. It's a beautifully rendered world to explore, though, and if you find it in the virtual bargain bin, I don't think you're likely to regret the purchase. Full review:

@eloquence I really enjoyed Life Is Strange years ago when I first played it. And I really wanted to try Firewatch but unfortunately it wouldn't run on my machine :(
@eloquence Thing is, I get rather sucked into gaming once I have the access, so it's actually in my best interest not to be able to play some of the best ones. Currently I just have a Steam account and play one game which doesn't require many resources. Also have Rimworld which is great, but haven't played it in a long time (again, probably for the best).
@eloquence It certainly could. It's a brilliant game. Damnit, now I fancy playing it again... I've tried the old productivity trick of limiting myself to an hour a day of gaming but it rarely works!
@syntax
I hear you! Rimworld scares me, it seems like it could really draw you in for hundreds of hours :)
