@nipos @switchingsocial@mastodon.at The roadmap for /e/ has the ability to remove the standard apps, this is still a product in development. I have found that /e/ continues to provide updates for the phone models it officially supports even after the LineageOS maintainers for some models have stopped providing updates.

@Wetrix @L1Cafe I've been converting as many applications as possible to dark themes lately. I have found the Obsidian and Solarize color pallets very pleasing.

@hyde_stevenson This website has articles going back to 2008 when this organization was launched so I wouldn't say it is new. But if after a decade we see where these corporations are now regarding privacy their sponsorship seems like a token gesture.

@Outernaut @jonah My Ublock Origin only detects one thing to block on privacytools.io: stats.privacytools.io/matomo.js
Under the big power symbol click on the "Open the logger" icon and try again, this will give you a list of items blocked. Sometimes other browser extensions will inject code into the webpage source, that could be what is happening. You should definitely investigate if that is the case and something is injecting Google code into all pages you browse.

@ben_dw @jonah You only need to be concerned about that if you stick with the stock Android. LineagesOS based ROMs will certainly get updates far beyond the Google cut-off date, as long as there is an active maintainer. Check out the /e/ ROM from e.foundation, I have found they provide updates to their LineageOS based ROM even after official LineageOS maintainers loose interest and stop updates.

@danarel Thanks for the update. Could you also add the messenger apps that are on the main page to the chart here? thinkprivacy.io/messengers.htm

@kravietz @hal9000 Some more details: The first time you view an email sent unencrypted to an external email address, the image tag URL sends in return code 400, the text "OK". Any further requests for this same image URL and you get an error 429 (too many requests).

@kravietz @hal9000 OK I just did some testing too. When sending to an external email address the image tag is used to activate a URL call to the api.Criptext.com server (but no image is downloaded) if these two conditions exist: In your privacy settings you have read receipts set to ON and you send the email unencrypted (a normal email). So I believe @hal9000 is right that this method is used to maintain constant behavior. If however read receipts are turned off or you send the email encrypted..

Renewed stock for the /e/OS smartphones!
S9 and S9+ are back - more than 100pcs ready for new orders.
Sending new notifications to people who registered at e.foundation/register-now-for- since May!

@kravietz @hal9000 Yeah their blurb could be made a bit clearer. This option can be turned off as well.

@kravietz @hal9000 That is only within Criptext to Criptext emails, it's the same as the Signal read receipts feature.

@eff EFF I love you but you're becoming spammy on Mastodon with at least one post every hour and reposting the same things multiple times.

@jonah @Wetrix I'm new to Mastodon so I don't know the precedent here, but with XMPP some servers disable accounts if you haven't logged in for X months.

@muraii @OneSubtractOne That looks like a good one. What happened to the planned 2018 updates though?

@jonah Yeah I was just reading about setting up a Tor relay.

@muraii @OneSubtractOne Yeah I tend to have things like this that don't need to be on a specific day. Bills have some leeway in when they must be paid, sometimes they arrive late in the mail! Or I set a to do for checking my smoke alarms, which I might not get to for a few weeks but I lie to remember it needs doing. If I put it on my calendar it will pass by and get lost.

I have a Mac I just retired from being my main computer at home and am thinking of using it for exploring some alternate networks. I've tried I2P in the past and had some success with it and also some issues with Bote reliability. Anyone have recommendations for other networks like Freenet, Yggdragsil, Zeronet?
