Both in USA & India after 9/11 & 26/11 the most disappointing part of National Security Policy in the name of #WarOnTerror, is the rise of the unnecessary + unwanted #SurveillanceState....
Simply because both of these two governments assumed on behalf of all it's citizens that it's ok to secretly #spy on it's own citizens, more of a East #German agency #Stasi's style, in search of enemies inside more than they spied on enemies outside, without any concrete legally framework.
@CyberHues Yes what Snowden revealed is one important part of modern society we need to be aware of. I am also more aware of a second side- the rise of commercial surveillance on the modern internet by corporations greedy for our data. Both sides have eroded our privacy. It is time to take back our control of data and interactions on the internet through alternative networks. More to come later.
@supernova We are in midst of crisis. Most people don't understand Privacy issues - they confuse Privacy with Anonymity & then decide their stance on that assumption... They are neither clear on how privacy & security coincides yet differs. There is very less effective programs to create mass awareness - Like training kids right from school age through conducting community Privacy clubs, more kids are coming up on the interned earlier than ever, while mass surveillance is getting sophisticated.
