re: online harassment etc

@mewmew @debugninja @sp1rit imagine being such a corporate bootlicker that you hate the people that work to preserve classic games and computer software... that must be a sad existence.

online harassment etc

@debugninja

Dunno, but I feel like the entire "emulation" scene is under attack atm, gived what happend to libretro a few days ago.

Mozilla Google budget screaming

Something is just wrong here... Mozilla just extended its deal with Google (making it the numero uno search engine) for something like 400 million dollars PER YEAR. For the next three years.

That is 1.2 BILLION dollars from 2020 to 2023.

If you cannot run a freaking NON-PROFIT on 400 MILLION dollars PER YEAR that means:

a) You are paying your executives too much.
b) You don't know how to manage a non-profit.
c) All of the above.

Schau dir mal Tootle an flathub.org/apps/details/com.g

Im gegensatz zu element auf dem desktop ist das eine gtk3 app und nicht einfach ne website in electron gewrappt.

@debugninja I'd say you could either take a look at kiwi :opensuse: if you want something high level. Otherwise you should start with writing an package manager (or use rpm) and installer. Some basic packages you need are
* the kernel
* a shell
* bsdtar
* gcc + tools
* gnu coreutils / busybox
* dhcpcd / networkmanager
* init system (systemd / OpenRC) but you could also start with bash as pid 1.

Im missing a few things, just get inspired by LFS packages.

I've noticed a recent linguistic shift in some young people, referring to websites as "apps". Reddit is an "app". The college website is an "app". "Which app did you see that on?"

I don't know if this is just shorthand (they likely access sites through an app) or a genuine misunderstanding of what's going on.

I don't want to be dramatic, but I'd lying if I said it didn't concern me a little. The WWW is a great resource which is free and interoperable. (Well we're down to just 2 browser engines now, but that's another matter). It'd be a shame if the WWW withered away, replaced by "apps", because people didn't know what they had.

@olivia

I choose between MesloLG(S NF) FiraCode depending on my mood.

The important thing is, that both fints have very good Ligatures.

@vaartis

AFAIK Teamspeak promoted them for a time as an Overlay for Teamspeak in videogames on m$ :windows: .

But I don't care who owns CurseForge aslong as they dont break MultiMC.
