Does anyone know an opensource, ad free antivirus/antimalware for Android.

I've been using avg for a while but I don't really trust AVG 100%.

@sam because android gets viruses, as can any OS.

Also because all the other methods of avoiding malware aren't 100% successful so antimalware another layer of defense against malware that is known about but security patches are yet released since antimalware uses fingerprints they can be rolled out much more quickly.

@Codeawayhaley Can you send me link to some news or article about android malwares and/or these antimalwares preventing them?

@sam idk have any, but just because there is an absence of evidence doesn't mean there is evidence of abscence especially in infosec, though I did hear of one a few years back but can't remember what it exploited.

Besides antimalware being in place means you don't have to download it when malware appears on the scene.

To assume Android doesn't get malware is naive.

Also antimalware doesn't just look for malware specific to the current platform but stuff that might be hidden in files you may want to transfer to another computer in the network that can be infected.

@Codeawayhaley I have always heard that antimalwares are malwares themselves. I do not have antivirus installed on my Linux systems too, and I have not heard any body recommending antimalwares for linux-based systems.

Malwares in Anrdoid are usually normal apps which misbehave. They can be easily removed like other apps. I have been and Android user for years and have found nothing.

I thought maybe you have an evidence for real viruses on the platform.

Thanks

@sam Well the reason I look for opensource antimalware to avoid the whole antimalware is malware which isn't always the case but proprietary antimalware is fairly guilty with acting as malware.
