Those trying to schedule a #covid19 vaccine by phone are refused by #WalMart & forced to use the website (so WalMart makes healthcare conditional on having internet access). *After* walmart.com collects your personal details, it then forces a #reCAPTCHA. If you refuse the #CAPTCHA, you don't get your shot but WalMart gets to keep the data you supplied to them.
#RiteAid's Tor hostile website is blocking appointments even to non-Tor users if the site believes the browser is too old, redirecting users to a page that says "Upgrade browser for the best Rite Aid experience". These assholes are going to be persnickety about browser versions during a pandemic.
Some online #Covid19 vaccination sites are forcing Google #reCAPTCHA on those trying to schedule appointments; some are blocking Tor; some are simultanously snooping & blocking Tor (using #CloudFlare); some sites are broken unless you run non-free Google js. Even sites that are centralized by the state governor are Tor hostile. Some Tor-hostile pharmacies refuse phone scheduling.
This "#Cypherpunk.is" site wrote an article about how #CloudFlare is a honeypot selling snake oil and now they have become a CF site themselves. They deleted their article hoping no one would notice, but we found it: https://web.archive.org/web/20190402175900/cypherpunk.is/2015/04/02/why-cloudflare-is-probably-a-honeypot #hypocrisy
The one thing I miss from #Twitter: when a status includes nothing other than a link to another status, the text of the referenced status also appears in the new status. Thus, it's possible get the text of an existing status into another thread (whether the referenced msg in mine or someone else's) w/out requiring a visit. #Mastodon devs, plz consider this enhancement request.
Someone plz clear up something about the mstdn.foxfam.club #Mastodon node. Anything tied to #FoxNews or #FoxFamily gives me chills because it wreaks of right-wing propaganda & fear-mongering that masquerades as "news". Conservative thinking is also reflected by mstdn.foxfam.club blocking Tor. Yet it seems to be mostly bots/mirrors of twtr, not all rt-wing people. Any humans there?
I have more appreciation for "Wanted Dead or Alive" by #MightySparrow after getting some history on #Grenada (https://invidious.fdn.fr/watch?v=7z-AxNFx88o). I wonder if any high school history teachers have figured out how to use music to engage students.
It's one thing if a private service hires another private service. If there are problems, customers can boycott. But when a *public* goverment service uses a private service that restricts access and excludes a segment of the public, it's tyranny. A private corporation should not have the power to control who can access a public resource.
Considering all the different #covid19 varients in play, I wonder if it makes sense for each member of a household to get a different vaccine. Intuitively it seems that if one of the vaccines doesn't handle one of the variants well, then wouldn't it be less likely spread within the household if everyone has a different vaccine?
Majority of the European Parliament welcomes the Commission's intention to oblige e-mail, messaging and chat providers to search all private messages for allegedly illegal material and report to the police (#chatcontrol) by 580:76:37.
#Reddit also perversely tagged it as "spam" to appear consistent with bot error, so even the bot can dodge accountability of intent. They added a "speculative" keyword to misrepresent the content.
Looks like #DDG has managed to coerce #Reddit to #censor a critical post that made #DuckDuckGo look bad: https://old.reddit.com/r/privacy/comments/aqz3q8/the_history_of_duckduckgos_founder_is_disturbing Notice they claim an automated bot did the censoring to duck accountability.
if we remove the "dp/B0EIE34K7C" that #DDG puts at the end of Amazon links, it breaks the link. So users are forced to trust the data encoded in that unpredictable token
Someone reversed my #LibrePlanet edits, then gave a bogus reason: https://libreplanet.org/wiki?title=Group%3AFree_Javascript_Action_Team&type=revision&diff=64711&oldid=64705 #DDG *is* hosted by #Microsoft.
Dear #iFixIt, you suck. You claim to have over 70,000 manuals. Where are they? Unless enabling javascript for a dozen different 3rd parties wasn't enough, the manuals are not browsable. I've got manuals to share, but there is no mechanism to upload them. And even if there was, it wouldn't be worth the trouble because the manuals are out of reach anyway.
When an online merchant accepts #Paypal or credit card, is Paypal still in the loop if credit card is used? I ask because I #boycottPaypal, & wonder if I should also avoid using a CC at PP-accepting merchants.
@rysiek @nintendh03s It's interesting to also note that #CloudFlare claims in their FaQ that "you don't have to" trust them: https://web.archive.org/web/20180926003344/https://blog.cloudflare.com/cloudflare-onion-service/#why-should-i-trust-cloudflare Yet they see all HTTPS traffic in the clear. So the fact that they lie about the need for trust is in itself cause for distrust.
The #FSF's refusal to demote #Gitlab.com from a "C" rating to an "F" rating is an embarrassment. https://sopuli.xyz/post/1865
i mean, what else can we do? You can't #boycott a government, so you have to boycott a region. And in doing so, less revenue in the region means less tax revenue in the region.
