@resist1984 @jubes #CapitalOne also suffered a #databreach for trusting Amazon #AWS with sensitive data. And more importantly, #Liberapay foolishly continues to trust AWS w/financial data with full-throated defense of Amazon despite leaks: mastodon.xyz/@Liberapay/104417

@jubes Another reason to : 100 million debit/credit card users leaked from Amazon's credit card processor (who foolishly used AWS to store the data):

i recall a scientific study that found ppl who believe conspiracy theories to have significantly lower IQs. I also recall a study finding that the average IQ of US republicans to be lower than US democrats. Those two studies coupled together have interesting consistency that's manifesting right now in Washington DC, where the RWNJs have stormed the capitol.

Is this true? "In the EU you can request that [] delete the data they have about you" (it.slashdot.org/comments.pl?si) EFX is in the US & the is in the EU. Does EFX also do business in the EU?

@schestowitz still throws an unnecessary fit when an SSL cert on an site is self-signed. Then after several clicks to reassure TB that it's not an issue, it still in the end falls over with "secure connection failed.. [try again]". WTF, devs should know SSL to an onion site is redundant.

bummer, my commandline jazz over Tor no longer works! curl -v --socks4a 127.0.0.1:9050 76qugh5bey5gum7l.onion/AnonyJa | mpg123 -

@techware That's great to hear. But note that if you don't directly use Amazon svcs & don't shop there (or at Whole Foods or other Amazon B&M stores) you probably use them indirectly. E.g. if you use MS , that was Amazon-hosted last time I checked. There's a browser plugin that will block Amazon-hosted sites.

That said I've just cancelled my Amazon Audible and Prime subscription and will be looking for alternative so I'm not coming to this blind...just interested in your perspective?

@Doudouosm bit repulsive that is willing to taint their otherwise ethical project with ties.

Suddenly, if you check timeline for the hashtag in , you get a massive flood of posts from Google. This is new, and it's revolting. Google invading the free fedi world is annoying, but hijacking their hashtag to bury negative publicity is a kind of censorship.

@eff Bounty offer: I will become one of the 7,500 supporters /iff/ eff commits to remove the link from their public website for at least 1 year.

Gabriel Weinburg refused, b/c he's more interested in profits than privacy or civil liberties.

When will search engines get smart enough to stop putting garbage websites on the 1st page of results? You know.. , , obnoxious amounts of third party js, forced cookie agreement popups, forced acct creation to view the content, etc..

US banks are a kind of law enforcement agency. When you call your bank, they will sometimes ask you questions irrelevant to your purpose for calling: "where do you live? who do you work for? what is your career? what is your annual income?" Treat these questions as if a cop is asking them (hint: don't answer them). They aren't asking for your benefit. It only works against you.

I am SO fed up with how homeless people are treated at *any* service that has anything to do with money.

The patreon payout is now hanging at payoneer which requires me to have an official address and prove that with an official document no older than 12 months. Both of which I DON'T FUCKING HAVE.

And of course fucking payoneer didn't fucking tell me that this is needed *before* the damn transaction.

Can we just set this shit on fire?

I need to delete older than ~45 days or so from the server, while keeping a local copy of all msgs (old & new). To my surprise, can't handle this, while has a "delete_after" option. Must I use Getmail?
