@FediFollows @protonvpn @ProtonCalendar @protonmail I've also not seen CAPTCHAs for yrs which is likely due to that fact that charges a fee to use . It was very recent (like less than a month) that switched to a CAPTCHA that /generates/ revenue for them (hCAPTCHA), so expect them to become more common. Certainly they've placed the CAPTCHA trigger in a position of high frequency (at login not on sending).

Never attribute to JavaScript that which is adequately explained by witchcraft

@protonmail @ProtonCalendar @protonvpn @FediFollows I suggest avoiding until they fix their problem. Protonmail is forcing people to solve an . And worse, it's occasional, so users may only encounter the CAPTCHA after they've distributed their @protonmail address to others, at which point users are trapped.

@protonmail @ProtonCalendar @protonvpn @FediFollows i currently have unread messages that are trapped by 's , even though my account is quite old and proven to be a non-abusive account.

@FediFollows @protonvpn @ProtonCalendar @protonmail claims the is to mitigate abuse, but they push the CAPTCHA to those simply trying to *read* messages (hardly a vector for abuse). The fact that they are using an hCAPTCHA indicates they are doing this for profit. That is, hCAPTCHA pays Protonmail every time a user solves the CAPTCHA.

@MichaelAltfield Some of your articles make it clear that you're aware of Tor, and yet you pimp , a privacy-abusing & exclusive Tor-hostile service that forces those who want to access documentation into 's walled-garden. Plz consider reversing that. Plz tell your readers that Cloudflare is socially harmful & write your guide to show people how to avoid .

@joeligj12 @thumb if the school is in the EU, it would probably be easy to find breaches, in which case you could involve the data protection office.

@thumb @joeligj12 This seems to be a global problem. I don't think any school in the world has their shit together. It might be worthwhile to complain to , if the school operates in the area of UNESCO's purview. You should complain to the school as well, but I wouldn't have high expectations.

@nytpu i try to only use USPS for that reason, and because and are both right-wing supporting members. If a merchant does not specify how they ship, i always put a note on the order "USPS only", and it works.

@nytpu i thought you were taking a jab at USPS for having a legally mandated monopoly on mailboxes. Now i'm not sure what you were trying to convey.

#Debian #Bullseye breaks some #Electron-based apps like #Electronmail (iow #Protonmail). #Signal has a workaround (github.com/signalapp/Signal-De). Not sure if #Wire is affected. This is because the appindicator pkg was dropped & forked to libayatana-appindicator.

@tilduke Perhaps, but if I have to dig up the HTTP code that's already too much effort for a dead page. Most often, blank pages are living pages that are just stupidly dependant on js. We don't generally expect dead pages to act this way. But since there are pages that manage to botch the simple task of announcing their non-existence, browsers need to get smarter about using the http code.

I tried to access a no longer existing website, and just got a blank screen. I had to enable tons of cascading javascript in a series of uMatrix sessions just to reach a non-blank page somewhat suggesting that the site is non-existent. Web developers unable to control their urge to do complex shit managed to botch something as simple as sending a 404 error. Thanks "parkingcrew"!

@Delib When censors a result from its searches, so does because does not significantly diversify its sources. is the primary source. So effectively you may not be in a personalized filter bubble, but you're in Microsoft's global filter bubble when using DDG

@omicron Reporting all bugs under a real identity makes reconnaissance trivial.

@omicron The former. My SMTP server tries to connect to the debian mail server, which then says it doesn't like my IP. The latter is something I've not thought of, but that's quite an effort. IIUC, to become a member one must get a pubkey that is signed by two other debian members. The problem is I would need some degree of pseudo anonymity.

@valerauko @aral If it were a GDPR fine, the max would be set at 4% of annual global turnover. I'm glad to see hitting again. France currently holds the record for the largest fine of 50M eur, which was also against Google: enforcementtracker.com/?insigh

If you have an old #TomTom, don't throw it away. It's possible to put #OpenTom & #OSM maps on it, or an app like #TripMaster which shows lat/long, speed, & all the sensor data. Caveat: TripMaster is apparently gratis non-free sw. wiki.navit-project.org/index.p github.com/george-hopkins/open webazar.org/tomtom/tripmaster.
