@fsf and stop ignoring the evidence: https://git.sdf.org/humanacollaborator/humanacollabora/src/branch/master/gitlab-dot-com.md
@fsf The new #FSF executive director must have the guts & motivation to change the embarrassingly false "C" rating for #Gitlab.com to an "F". https://www.gnu.org/software/repo-criteria-evaluation.html
A lawyer for a corp I am suing sent me a letter asking me to email them, & they gave no phone number. The MX server for their address is MS #Outlook, which uses #Spamhaus to block legit msgs coming from dynamic IPs. I must admit it's gratifying to tell them their defense was hindered because they chose to depend on MS for email service.
confession: i deliberately leave #Libera channels after every conversation b/c sitting in the channel adds to Libera.chat's perception of popularity. But I sit in #Freenode channels to maintain the balance. It's a way of voting. Ppl who fled to Libera said Fn would be bad for privacy, yet Fn is apparently cloaking everyone automatically whereas Libera cloaks can only be had outside Tor
@Horizon_Innovations I assume you mean to ask which distro do users get the best support. I wouldn't feel comfortable saying what is the /best/ because I've not studied many of them. But Ubuntu is good because they have an active IRC channel and their bug tracker & docs are very accessible. OTOH, their forums have lots of unanswered posts. I actually use debian, for other reasons.
@alcinnz @dredmorbius Concur with the margin for rampant abuse comment. I was disgusted to discover that #SVG includes #JavaScript support, which is why we can't post SVG on most sites -- the site can't trust the general public not to inject malware.
@Hyolobrika
Indeed. So #BruceSchneier quite rightly dismisses #MobileCoin as "just plain stupid" (https://www.schneier.com/blog/archives/2021/04/wtf-signal-adds-cryptocurrency-support.html).
Now the #EFF (who has Schneier on the board), has partnered with #Signal's #MobileCoin. WTF?!
It's just another case showing EFF to be sellouts willing to promote whoever throws money their way.
To those trying to select a linux distro: one of the most important factors in which distro to choose is *support*. #distrowatch.com sadly neglects this. So ppl will choose a distro like #Septor b/c the description might be just what they're after, but #netsplit.de shows not a single IRC channel for it. Choose #Mint, then later discover the docs are jailed in #Cloudflare.
@Delib I suggest reading http://techrights.org/2021/03/15/duckduckgo-in-2021/
@Delib #DuckDuckGo does not pro-actively send IP info to MS w/the query according to the privacy policy (which is hard to trust considering #DDG has been caught violating it multiple times). But if you trust the privacy policy, MS still sees your IP when you connect since MS hosts DDG. And MS also sees your query which DDG proxies to Bing. So MS can work out for itself IP-query pairings.
@phel @carstenraddatz_fca @tdemin @thomas @mbernabe @wolf480pl I've heard someone complain that they get #Cloudflare CAPTCHAs all over the place b/c of being behind CGNAT, so I assumed it was everyone. Perhaps it only happens if someone in your IP pool runs a bot on CF sites. It would be interesting to have some statistics on this.
@norm where is here? Is that California? I know there is a Starlink ISP in LA area but brands are sometimes copied.
@carstenraddatz_fca @tdemin @phel @thomas @wolf480pl @mbernabe I can see how Cloudflare can get away with marginalizing a small group of Tor users, but I'm baffled that CF is able to marginalize all these users behind CGNAT. I wonder if the CF firewall only kicks in on a shared IP if someone in that group runs a bot.
@mbernabe @wolf480pl @thomas @phel @tdemin @carstenraddatz_fca I really appreciate all your feedback. I'm trying to get an idea of #Cloudflare's impact beyond Tor & apparently ppl in Russia, Serbia, Poland, Germany, Austria, Italy, Spain, Philippines, & India all must be getting CAPTCHA at an unbearable frequency due to #CGNAT, correct?
@koherecoWatchdog imagine if #Trump were still in power, he'd be directing the FTC to ignore complaints about #designedObsolescence
#Biden will direct the #FTC to support #RightToRepair rules: https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2021-07-06/biden-wants-farmers-to-have-right-to-repair-own-equipment-kqs66nov
@sotolf @alexbuzzbee @Phate6660 @zstix @josias If they just have a lousy charactor that's not detrimental to the project, then there's no sense in boycotting
@josias @zstix @Phate6660 @alexbuzzbee @sotolf that makes sense for the most part. I've encountered scumbags who refuse obvious bug reports for bogus reasons and even suppressed bug reports (even security bugs), but in the end if I opt to boycott the app it's not because an asshole works on it but rather because the quality of the app is impacted by the decisions the asshole makes.
@zstix @Phate6660 @alexbuzzbee @sotolf @josias E.g. I boycott #LinuxMint because the docs have become jailed on a #Cloudflare site. So I don't install #Mint for myself or others because putting the docs in a walled garden is a destructive trend. We can influence this by taking the trend in a better direction by choosing a distro other than Mint.
