As someone who worked in the aviation industry on both sides of the pond I can say with certainty that the US does calculations the incorporate the price tag they put on life. Another #Boeing went down. That company is an #ALEC supporter of right wing politics and they continue to have safety issues because conservatives don't put safety above profit. People need to learn to stop getting on Boeing aircraft.

@Mojeek @werwolf i installed #ratpoison and quite liked it. But it looks like i have to ditch it since it doesn't do well with dual displays. The default resolution was lower than the native resolution of my LCD. When I increase it in xorg configs, the two frames overlap and mirror part of the other frame. So I guess i'll have to move to #sway

I continue to find #Bullseye bugs that I can't report because the mail server for #debian bugs blocks my IP, and salsa.debian.org forces a #Google #reCAPTCHA

Choosing a communications platform based on where the people are is sadly a bad idea because the masses do not make smart decisions. Choose the platform that has the proper privacy-respecting technology and policies. Let the smart ones migrate.

@selea @yunohost @nwalfield @rysiek @parisni Because it's not broken. A working centralized solution like Wire is better in more situations than a broken decentralized solution (email). Of course if you can find a viable working decentralized option for the case at hand, that's your answer. But email is mostly broken notwithstanding non-MACFANG corner cases.

@parisni @rysiek @nwalfield @yunohost @strypey I've not heard of #Snikket until now. Thanks for mentioning it. It's on fdroid and superficially I see no issues, so I should take a deeper look at that.

@strypey @yunohost @nwalfield @rysiek @parisni Wire has shortcomings for sure. XMPP is great for advanced users. Matrix caters for novices IIUC but #Cloudflare has a role that screams run away. #Element.io is a #Cloudflare site. It's avoidable (thanks fdroid!) but it's a big red flag that the people behind it are not on the ball & so it should be approached w/great caution b/c incompetency can manifest in other ways.
