I also pointed out that his blog uses #DDG as the embedded search mechanism, and that #DuckDuckGo uses #Microsoft both for hosting & for Bing queries (so MS sees both user's IP address and queries, which it can combine). Why would Bruce #Schneier consider those facts unworthy of response, and even unworthy of exposure? Why is he censoring that? Does he work for DDG?

When Bruce #Schneier said #DuckDuckGo "doesn’t track you", I posted a comment asking if he wanted to revise his statement because he can't possibly know that. His response: he deleted the comment (my comment not his). schneier.com/blog/archives/201

@phryk As someone who boycotts for many reasons, such as their membership, I actually consider it unethical to buy anything from them -- even new games, even if they hadn't been dicks about preserving old games. BTW, the lead-in has to go. This queues the video in a good place: invidious.fdn.fr/watch?v=uulMx

People often hate hearing others complain, but sometimes it's done in a refreshing entertaining way.. and for some reason the British accent helps quite a bit. E.g. this complaint against is a must see: invidious.fdn.fr/watch?v=uulMx

@ITwrx @ParmuTownley @gadonias @eff indeed, delaying Youtube publications is also a good idea. I just don't get why doesn't take a common sense approach to FB, Twitter, Google, considering Bruce Schneier is on the EFF board. Is his influence too minimal, or is he not even trying?

@zeh @jgoerzen @Mr_Teatime there are already lots of good reasons to avoid : github.com/privacytoolsIO/priv The trashcoin may be the straw that breaks the camel's back for some.

@gadonias @eff @ParmuTownley RMS gives good advice in this situation: stallman.org/facebook-presence. That article should be generalized. Ideally, would publish ~20% of their videos on & 100% of them on , and note on their Youtube page that peertube is the official source. And certainly there's no excuse for having a youtube link on their website which leads ppl astray.

@gerowen the annoying thing is, those of us who have been attacked by the censor bots are probably just enough in the minority that our participation makes no difference to Reddit's bottom line. So the unwitting masses will continue to give Reddit power, and because those masses are glued to Reddit they won't bother with less oppressive alternatives.

#BurnermailIO is apparently the only e-mail forwarding service that strips off the original "To:" header, so you have no way of knowing which address the sender used to reach you. What's the idea? Is it to conceal the disposable address from your #email provider?

Delete Chrome. Now.

Google is using its exceptionally powerful position to make *the browser itself* analyze your browsing behavior and serve that on a plate in the form of "cohorts" to anyone interested.

They are transforming Chrome into a "browsing-history-passport" - right now.

If you care about your intellectual freedom even a little bit, you must put Chrome out of your life as soon as possible. Support others doing the same.

@joerebelloharley@tilde.zone @strawberryfieldsforever@mstdn.social I walk. Disabling my ad blocker would me an enabler and accessory to advertizing.

the next time someone says they never carry cash, only plastic, that's a good moment to tell them they are on the wrong side of the (which is war on privacy)

@mxtthxw attacks Tor users, and that attack is ultimately an attack on privacy. But non-Tor users have it worse in a way, because they don't know when Cloudflare is seeing their traffic. They see the HTTPS padlock & think they have a safe connection, when actually Cloudflare sees their usernames, passwords, bank details, everything that goes to the Cloudflared website.

@joerebelloharley@tilde.zone @nytpu @scifirenegade @josias if it were me, I'd happily be added to the logs, because privacy in numbers. The more people logged as using Tor, the more useless those logs become. Staying off the logs actually helps the logs.

@joerebelloharley@tilde.zone @nytpu @scifirenegade @josias sometimes it's cheaper to get a VPS, and install a VPN server on the VPS. Of course, you can get gratis VPN service from ().

@joerebelloharley@tilde.zone @josias @scifirenegade @nytpu if you were the only person in the UK using Tor, that might invite attention. But there are likely enough Tor users in the UK that it couldn't possibly be seen as suspicious, nor would there be resources to take any action. BTW, if you have a VPN to Europe, then run Tor over the VPN, your ISP would only see that you use a VPN, which most people doing remote business do.
