@joerebelloharley@tilde.zone @nytpu @scifirenegade @josias ISP snooping is actually a typical reason to use Tor. Your ISP sees every domain you connect to, which gives it lots of opportunity to trigger suspicious activity reports. In the US, ISPs collect data on what their customers do & they sell it. Under Obama ISPs were required to get consent for that, but Trump reversed it. So Tor is the fix, because your ISP only knows you use Tor.

@joerebelloharley@tilde.zone @josias @nytpu @scifirenegade well in any case, staying off Tor means your reality is a subset of others, which means unwittingly posting links that not everyone can visit. There are some plugins you can use that will tell you if a site is , so that you know when others will be blocked.

@joerebelloharley@tilde.zone @scifirenegade @nytpu @josias the spooks want you to think using Tor will make you a suspect, in order to keep Tor small. When human/civil rights activists use Tor, they need cover traffic by other Tor users. So even if you don't think you benefit from privacy, using Tor helps the activists who rely on Tor.

@joerebelloharley@tilde.zone @josias @nytpu @scifirenegade chg dot org, moveon, & actionnetwork are all Tor-blocking sites. This is what impeding looks like. It gives a "one more step" page and shows a broken

@joerebelloharley@tilde.zone @scifirenegade @nytpu @josias I don't sign petitions on sites. I can't even read it. But I might sign it if it were on a site like openpetition.org.

was not resisting, but I find it baffling that if Floyd had resisted, that would be regarded as justification. Of course someone might resist being suffocated to death-- and rightfully so.

I would like thousands of non-javascript Tor users to call 650-432-3200, which is simply answered by a human, and ask why is it that they get "One more step..." when visiting usa.visa.com/legal/privacy-pol. Ask for technical support on why that screen appears, and ask how they can opt out of #Visa info sharing.

@gadonias @ParmuTownley has a link on their landing page to their account. I find this extremely revolting. The one non-profit org that we expect to demonstrate some integrity & lead by example has suckered for a few bucks.

@gemlog indeed, so that's another reason not to ban plastic & switch to paper. What is Japan thinking?

is switching from plastic to paper for food containers-- for environmental reasons. I thought the kind of waxy paper that is coated for waterproofing is not recycleable, so what am I missing?

@eff and when viewing that site through , they are accepting , which shares data with 600 corporations: schneier.com/blog/archives/201 Why would condone this?

@eff yikes- that EFF link redirects to a privacy-abusing site.

@joerebelloharley@tilde.zone @nytpu @joerebelloharley@tilde.zone superficially this is much needed. But is there anything to stop someone with 12+ accounts from casting that many votes?

@josias well, maybe different servers are different in this regard. Note that I use a 3rd party client.. maybe the client should be blamed.

@jordan31 yes, but it would also be nice to see the full msg if I opt for it, on demand.

@jordan31 i'm talking about timeline control, which should be a user option not a server option. Note that if I search for a hashtag or look at the timeline of a specific account, the large posts are fine. It's just the "Home" timeline where it's irritating to see spontaneous posts that flood all other posts off the screen.

some people I follow will send a "toot" that completely fills my screen, as their server has no 500 char limit. Wouldn't it make sense to give followers on a way to limit the size of msgs hitting the home timeline?
