@zack Americans are fussy about which brand: bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-5 Some of them are making stupid decisions like waiting longer to get one with insignificantly better efficacy. But there is a good reason to be selective: You need to meet people or be around them in 4 weeks, in which case Pfizer & Moderna cannot protect you in time.

@m_svo @imgn that page on stops at an , which i won't solve. But thanks anyway.. I guess your summary sounds reasonable enough.

Warning on the latest release by @Tutanota: the #Tutanota app complains that #WebView is out of date (an app that I've never installed). Then it attempts to find it in f-droid but it's not there, so Tutanota terminates. In short, if Tutanota works for you, don't update it or you might run into this #bug.

@gerowen Indeed that's normal.. the 2nd is exactly the same thing but that's when the reaction is strongest. But I've heard the 2nd can be the j&j single shot, which kinda makes sense b/c j&j needs nothing else. It's as if the 1st shot is just wasted. It could make sense to do that if access comes soon after the 1st shot, because j&j is also faster. But I don't see this option in writing.

@onepict I recall a pic that circulated of Zuckerberg sitting in front of his screen which had a taped bit of paper covering his camera. BTW, I think Bezos stepped down from his position. It would be poetic justice if Bezos had a neighbor across the street who would install a Ring camera that would surveil his house.. but he probably owns a big enough piece of land to be out of range.

i thought it was only Trump who got the virus, then despite being vaccinated naturally later got an artificial vaccine anyway. Others are doing that too. I can't quite get my head around why overcoming the real thing is less effective than the shot (which if I understand correctly tries to emulate the coronavirus by modifying a common cold virus)

@onepict if the AI cams catch an driver yawning while driving, they're docked points.

I'm getting mixed info on the Johnson & Johnson length of time for max strength. Most articles say 2 weeks, but some say the j&j vaccine takes 28 days to reach max efficacy. This one says 28 days: bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-5

@be @streetlight @alcinnz the fact that companies are distributing products that use the linux kernel and then refuse requests for the code essentially weakens the freedom that consumers are led to believe they have.

@alcinnz @streetlight @be ah, right I was confusing with The Linux Foundation. i've heard that Torvalds & The Linux Foundation jointly hold the kernel copyright, and it's well known that Torvalds is allergic to court actions. This effectively renders even a strong license flimsy.

@be @streetlight @alcinnz The copyright holder of the Linux kernel is themselves, no? I'm not clear on why they would disregard cases where a large company distributes a product that runs the kernel, who then refuses requests for the source code.

@alcinnz @streetlight well regarding that "legal support against GPL violations", doesn't even respond to reports of violations. Do they only support copyright holders?

@tilduke Sounds about right. But i wouldn't call them equal. I didn't find half as much dirt on johnson and johnson, and I found no dirt on Moderna (which has ties to the university that Dolly Parton donated $1M to to finance the vaccine R&D). I'm sure there's something but the lack of membership is a plus for sure, & J&J dropped their ALEC membership.

Ethical vaccine shoppers: FYI of all the vaccine makers, is the most unethical. In the US, they are members & they finance CEI to push propaganda, they supported , they sponsor , & they are a member (so they spend lobby money to fight labeling). So if you have a choice of vaccine that's may be a factor for you.

@mesh4545 So the vaccine is gratis. Regarding administration, vaccine providers can charge a fee. The fee is then reimbursed by insurers, & for uninsured people the fee is paid by a government relief fund. So either way it should be free to the consumer.

@mesh4545 Some of the prices are here: entrepreneur.com/article/36468 The US has banned drug makers from selling privately-- they can only sell to the gov so the gov can control distribution. In my state, the gov is not passing the cost on to the consumer.

I heard that if you get the 1st shot of a 2-shot vaccine, the 2nd shot can be a single-shot variety like . Sounds reasonable. But that's more like a rumor and I'm not finding anything solid on it.
