@kirschwipfel @rugk @michal_h21 Try writing a custom command that uses \href and also creates a footnote of the URL. The "#" and "_" chars and a few others need some quite bizarre hacks to work.

@michal_h21 @rugk @kirschwipfel The # symbol becomes quite a disaster when you need to pass it in an argument to a custom command that prints the # and also sends it to another command where # must be unescaped (like \url{}). In that case, it's broken if you pass "\#" and also if you pass "#"

@schestowitz i take this as good news. The fewer people who can access assets the better.

@eff there's some misinfo on that site. E.g. it says "Signal is a free and open source software", but actually it has been delisted from FSF due to dependency on (directory.fsf.org/wiki/Signal). Also, pushes , so if you modify the signalapp you are forbidden from actually using it on "their" network. You should stop plugging them.

@hyperfocal @protonmail @jonah @privacytools @thornedu Suppose you run your own instance for your friends & family. I believe that has a built-in URL shortener.

@Coffee @strypey Perhaps I'll script something roughly along these lines: torsocks lynx -dump -nolist archive.org/$CF_URL | sed -ne "/$start/,/$end/p" | torsocks curl -F ... depastedihrn3jtw.onion

@strypey @Coffee I'd have to host a site 1st.. but indeed that is a viable option. However, I've since discovered tornoteqjerqldnk.onion, crypmazzrfjhn3nx.onion, and depastedihrn3jtw.onion so perhaps these are good options. @strypey- archive.is a site. And strangely it's one of very few that force the on TB users.

@hyperfocal @privacytools @jonah there was an URL "shortener" that produced .onion URLs.. I think it was on danwin1210.me but I don't find it now. The URLs were actually longer in some cases (onion v2 lengths) but if you find it survellance capitalism is unlikely to manifest from it. It's an interesting way to encourage Tor use.

there is nzxj65x32vh2fkhk.onion but it only holds for 1 hour.

Sometimes I read an article that's posted on a CloudFlare site. Do I share it? No- it's unethical to send ppl into . The 1st thought is to share a link to an archive.org copy of it. Problem is it's verbatim enough to regurgitate content that promotes the CF site. We need a .onion paste service to indefinately store the raw text.

@crispr @benjancewicz I wonder how many people falsely believe that an N95 mask can protect others from an infected wearer, not realizing that they have an exhale valve. It makes sense that the surgical mask protects others from the wearer.

@cryptoxic the immigration status of visitors would also be screened, and if one person in a family failed the check, the whole family would be deported with the patient.

@cryptoxic Trump is the kind of person who manspreads in the lifeboat, because he owns the lifeboat. If Trump's properties were used to treat Covid sufferers, you would be rejected if you don't have insurance, and it would be limited to insurance companies who best compensate Trump. Your immigration status would be checked at the door and ICE agents would be onsite to deport ppl.

@privacyint @Facebook Facebook cannot be salvaged. Your effort should be focused on getting people off .

@Tutanota the difference between auditing two tools and auditing one tool is double the effort. Your effort could be focused on auditing rather than both auditing and coding a redundant tool, which is a waste of resources. Signature verification is always an option. If you audit , you can sign it.

@Tutanota you say "At Tutanota we are a small team so we have to focus on how to develop the best product with miminum effort" -- so why not support this project: github.com/vladimiry/ElectronM Effortless for you and better for the users. It's also easier for users to trust a tool that has 3rd party developers.

@Tutanota if your client were a compiled native client, you could at least say you've offered something that avoids . But your client is -based, so the change from ElectronMail is strictly a loss for users.
