@alexesc @lightweight @humanetech and if your past friend does not have a mobile phone, or they would otherwise not give their ph# number to MS, the mere existence of your acct pushes others to get a mobile phone (a #privacy abuse in itself) & then share their ph# with #Microsoft.
@humanetech @lightweight @alexesc You cannot view the profile or connect to a LinkedIn user without having an account yourself. So by having account with your real name on it, you are helping MS abuse the #privacy of your past friends.
@alexesc @lightweight @humanetech I'm not sure what you mean by "both worlds" here. A minimum #LinkedIn profile doesn't solve the problem I described. The mere existence of an account, even if zero content, still baits past friends into registering simply to connect.
@jonarvid not sure which printers respect consumers enough to not call home. An egress firewall would block it, or alternatively you could get one of those old network boxes designed for LPT or USB printers. Although it would still be nice to know which printer maker is compatible w/a free world & worthy of patronage.
@lightweight actually it's important to delete your #MS #Linkedin acct. Simply having a presence there makes you the bait by which your friends are pushed to 1st signup & expose their mobile ph# to MS (or worse, buy a mobile phone just to register).
@theprivacyfoundation I give negative feedback to #Google #CAPTCHA users when possible, but it's usually the feedback mechanism itself that uses it. Of course, to solve such CAPTCHAs is to support them.
@jonarvid one of the big factors w.r.t privacy is #trackerdots. Be sure to buy a printer that does not surreptitiously print its serial number in nearly invisible yellow dots.
@jonarvid i recall that the most ethical printer maker was Oki (formerly Okidata). Not sure if it relies on #nonfreesoftware though.
@jonarvid jonarvid Last time I was looking at the printer market, it was disturbing to see that the most #opensource-friendly among brands is the least ethical in other respects (#HP).
@lightweight @fitheach you grossly over-estimate US voter intelligence, which is quite hard to do after the 2016 election.
@lightweight @fitheach that's rediculous. Bernie is too far left with the "socialism" label pinned on him to get swing voters. He's the best candidate, but not the strongest. Warren and Klobachar are stronger candidates against Trump.
@lightweight @fitheach you need to read more about Bernie (a democrat). Election reform is a big part of his platform.
@fitheach @lightweight Trump and Ted Cruz both hired Cambridge Analytica
@lightweight @fitheach Neither Clinton nor Trump would improve democracy and the voting system. But Trump has been caught tampering w/the election in ways the dems refused. (FYI, Cambridge Analyica offered to hack the election for the dems and they refused)
@fitheach @lightweight Dems always got more votes than in 2016.
@lightweight @fitheach nonsense. You're blaming republicans for being republicans. Non-voters are to blame. Non-voters allowed Trump to win. It's non-voters who screwed things up for themselves and for the country (the world, in fact)
@fitheach @lightweight w/out the protest voters, it'd be Hillary not Trump in power
@lightweight @fitheach Nonsense. #Republicans are hard-core voters -- voting is crucial to them b/c they are in the minorty. It's the non-voting (protest voters) who are responsible for Trump. That's on you.
@fitheach @lightweight How could you possibly think Clinton would be interventionalist? Democrats are known for being less war mongering, spending less on defense, and a female one is less apt to push men into war. Democrats favor diplomacy over war.
@lightweight @fitheach if you believe that, then it makes no sense to favor #Trump. Right wing (#republican) leaders pushing a white nationalism agenda are exactly the sort of ppl the world doesn't want in power, for the reasons you state
