@kensanata @grimmware @rysiek @kravietz your concern for the "analog" line is a red herring, because the signal is digitally modulated with error correction over that analog line, so the receiving fax station gets an exact copy.

@kravietz @rysiek @grimmware @kensanata have you tested that command? Your content is generated electronically. Rendering a vector PDF as a 200dpi fax is very readable. That can be fax-transmitted as-is; no need for scanning.

@phoe @jalcine you saved him from attribution lawsuits.. surely that's worth more than two badges

@wuwei @Rastal @jordan31 also, the user has no duty to accept ads (targeted or not), and no duty to ensure a suppliers business is profitable. There are non-profit efforts to block as many ads as possible and those are the most ethical (noting that advertising is an arms race we need not accept).

@jordan31 @Rastal @wuwei I'm not sure if Brave is transparent about that. If not, certainly there's a problem w/deception. Users believe they're getting ad blocking, but they're getting ad replacement shenanigans instead.

@phoe @jalcine why set the bar so low? Why not demand a bug bounty. jalcine owes you!

@kravietz @kensanata @grimmware @rysiek I have faxed over PSTN as well as over SIP in serial w/PSTN. You seem to be talking about quality not reliability. I use this cmd to obtain a WYSIWYG fax doc: gs -q -dNOPAUSE -dBATCH -sDEVICE=tiffg3 -r204x196 -sPAPERSIZE="$paperform" -dFIXEDMEDIA -sOutputFile="$tiffg3_filename" "$src_pdf"

@seasharp i agree all non-vegan consumption is harmful -- the extent of which varies depending what's being consumed. Vegan's are the most ethical consumers, of course. But those who cannot (or will not) go vegan obviously have some control over how & what they cut back on. It's a false dichotomy to say "demand not species". It's a problem of disproportionate demand on species.

@jalcine @seasharp personally i rarely eat fish, but I shrimp outright b/c of 90% bycatch rates

@seasharp @jalcine isn't it overly blunt to group all fish species together? I thought some fish are severely overfished, whereas Mackrel in the UK is quite unpopular & not in the slightest at risk for overfishing. A fish consumer could obviously overfished species.

@jalcine i know over-fishing is a problem, but isn't a bigger problem? Some ppl go pescatarian in order to minimize harm w/out denying themselves omega-3 fatty acids.

@jalcine fish is different enough from other meats (taste, nutrition, farming, etc) that I don't find it too bizarre to make that separation. w.r.t societal harm, fishing doesn't cause & probably doesn't have a significant carbon footprint.

@wuwei @Rastal the two under-handed ways that ad-blockers profit is by whitelisting ads that pay the ad blocker not to block, and indeed the non-whitelisted ads are often replaced by ads that benefit the ad blocking project. I knew Brave made use of one or both of those schemes but didn't recall which.

@wuwei @Rastal doesn't make its money by selectively whitelisting ads? For that reason Brave is inherently a bad tool for .

@jalcine if an anarchist puts self interest above communal good () then it doesn't seem to follow to go vegan (which favors the greater good but makes it much more difficult to meet your own nutritional needs).

@jalcine it's despicable that government reps are using the exclusive private of rather than open-to-all platforms like , , & for public announcements.

@jalcine To is a good move, but his reasons aren't so noble (more about self control). The noble reason to rm is power-abusing , hostility toward users, & forced disclosure of ph#.

@onepict the law is non-existent, no? AFAIK, no cities or states in the US have banned the use of to surveil your neighbors, which is the heart of the problem.

@gerowen indeed, is using to exploit labor, which in some situations in the US amounts to a 13th amendment issue (involuntary servitude).
