Is there a pre-made small image I can copy to a flash drive that is just a base install of a version of linux, and gpg that I can use to offline generate and sign some keys? preferably with an encrypted partition that stores the secret key, and a unencrypted partition that I can store the subkeys on...

@nytpu @epoch I suspect linux would have GPG pre-installed so you could do that. Tails is a live distro that runs off a USB stick. Also, you can get a list of distros that include GPG here: distrowatch.com/search.php?pkg

@resist1984 @epoch Oh yeah, I'm aware of Tails, but I think the intent here is more for a bootable system exclusively used to manage your keys without doing anything else (nothing else that isn't absolutely necessary is included). Something simple like a buildroot system would make it easier to audit all the software on the system and be relatively assured that it's secure. Not that Tails isn't secure, but I do like the idea of dedicated software that isn't multi-purpose for security purposes.

Plus it'd be a fun excuse for me to learn how to use buildroot

@nytpu @epoch might be worth a look. It's quite small, has a live distro, and has GPG. But since it's also installable, I'm not sure if the GPG is on the live version or if it's only installable.
