To those trying to select a linux distro: one of the most important factors in which distro to choose is *support*. #distrowatch.com sadly neglects this. So ppl will choose a distro like #Septor b/c the description might be just what they're after, but #netsplit.de shows not a single IRC channel for it. Choose #Mint, then later discover the docs are jailed in #Cloudflare.
@resist1984
Which is the best supported, In your opinion?
@Horizon_Innovations I assume you mean to ask which distro do users get the best support. I wouldn't feel comfortable saying what is the /best/ because I've not studied many of them. But Ubuntu is good because they have an active IRC channel and their bug tracker & docs are very accessible. OTOH, their forums have lots of unanswered posts. I actually use debian, for other reasons.
@resist1984 (Just found this post from you replying to my other post)
I think both Guix and Debian tend to be tor-friendly / cloudflare-free
@altlink @cwebber i'm not sure if there are any decent alternatives to #Patreon, but I'd look here if you're interested: https://wiki.snowdrift.coop/market-research/other-crowdfunding And if you find something good plz let me know.
@resist1984 @altlink@mamot.fr account has been suspended.
@Xantulon yeah, i heard some people see that. It's misleading, because mamot.fr did not suspend the altlink account. It's actually your own instance (mastodon.social) that is blocking you from following altlink. If you follow altlink from a different instance than mastodon.social, it will work.
@resist1984 well, that's disappointing, and a misleading status.
@resist1984 I've explained that necessity to people I've introduced to #Mastodon, but I've never done it myself. I guess I hadn't had a compelling enough reason...
@Xantulon You might find this page useful: https://fedisus.dokku.hackr.org/ It tracks which nodes are blocking other nodes. Caveat: I think it's incomplete.
