#GMail is harmful to e-mail ecosystem; its antispam blocking policy matches too many valid messages as spam.
It blocked LastPass email leak warning email, because it contained "a link" to a leaked site.
It blocked an e-mail from goverment agency addressed directly to me.
It discriminates all non-gmail servers, and it's pretty much impossible to own a private SMTP server these days, because GMail will classify everything as spam.
It's not how e-mail should work.
Consider dropping GMail.
@antekone what alternates would you suggest? From now on, every time I see a post like this from the Fediverse, I’m going to expect you and others to drop more than three suggestions in one thread. If the Fediverse going to explain why something is inadequate, provide suggestions
@weirdwriter @antekone #disroot.org, #danwin1210.me, #onionmail.info, #autistici.org, underwood2hj3pwd.onion, mail2tor.com (web only), cock.li, #riseup.net. Note those alternatives are decent for /sending/ email; i've not tested which ones are excessively defensive w.r.t receiving email, but getting of #MACFANG services is an important 1st step.
@spoon @antekone @weirdwriter i recall a dispute tearing the #mixmaster network apart. One group insisted on 4k keys (fearing that 1k was too weak), & the other group refused to deviate from the official specs which stuck w/1k keys. The debian mixmaster app conformed stictly to the standard, so it only produced payloads for 1k keys, which caused msgs to get lost whenever a 4k node was in the chain.
@resist1984 @weirdwriter @antekone I did not know that bit of history!
You can send messages to them using the cypherpunk format, no special client or registration needed, last I checked. They do list several old clients, though (esp. useful for usenet-based anonymous replies, since mixmaster is pre-SURBs).

@weirdwriter @antekone @spoon It ultimately lead to abandonment of the debian mixmaster pkg. Is Autistici just offering a relay node, or does it also have some way for people without clients to send msgs?
