If someone does not have a mobile phone # or they have one but will not share it with strangers or orgs, they should be *praised* not excluded. #Facebook, #Signal, #Google, #Microsoft, some banks, (& possibly #Twitter) all exclude people without mobile phones. We have a moral duty to exclude those companies. We should support ppl w/out mobile phones by walking when a ph# is demanded.
@resist1984 a national bank policy is not allow voip phone numbers on accounts. i told them i would close my account because i am not paying for cell service anymore. they changed my number in my account to the voip one
@resist1984 I have a (n ungoogled Android) phone but refused to sign up for Signal years ago because I did not want any strings attached to it.
I always want to be able to do anything I can do on my phone with my computer. Without asking the phone for permission.
So for IM, that makes it XMPP for me.
@resist1984 Hear you!! Microsoft-free since 1998. Facebook-free since 2018. Twitter/Instagram-free since "forever". Chrome-free since 2014. Just de-toxed myself from GMail (work in-progress). Goals of being free of YouTube and Google Search by end of the year.
@resist1984 for sure. I don't give mine out unless my job demands it for emergency info etc
