It doesn't matter if you consider yourself a "content creator" or if you upload videos to #YouTube once in a while for whatever reason.
Please consider also uploading your content to #PeerTube [https://joinpeertube.org/], whatever instance you'd like. I assume if you're sharing your content, you probably want it to reach as many people as possible.
Let's populate the #fediverse with good and original content 📽️ 📺
@gadonias question: does peertube has incentives to upload like youtube does? Incentive being ad revenue.
@gadonias @ParmuTownley #EFF has a link on their landing page to their #Youtube account. I find this extremely revolting. The one non-profit org that we expect to demonstrate some integrity & lead by example has suckered for a few bucks.
@gadonias @eff @ParmuTownley RMS gives good advice in this situation: https://stallman.org/facebook-presence.html. That article should be generalized. Ideally, #EFF would publish ~20% of their videos on #Youtube & 100% of them on #peertube, and note on their Youtube page that peertube is the official source. And certainly there's no excuse for having a youtube link on their website which leads ppl astray.
@ITwrx @ParmuTownley @gadonias @eff indeed, delaying Youtube publications is also a good idea. I just don't get why #EFF doesn't take a common sense approach to FB, Twitter, Google, considering Bruce Schneier is on the EFF board. Is his influence too minimal, or is he not even trying?
@resist1984 @ParmuTownley I wouldn't say @eff is on #YouTube just for the "few bucks". Most of the people on decentralized alternatives are already aware of privacy issues. Meanwhile, there is a huge number of users of those mainstream platforms who's still on "I have nothing to hide" mode. I may be wrong but I think keeping an account at those places helps steering these people away from privacy-invading services.
