some people I follow will send a "toot" that completely fills my screen, as their server has no 500 char limit. Wouldn't it make sense to give followers on #Mastodon a way to limit the size of msgs hitting the home timeline?
@resist1984 depends entirely on the instance admin. I'm cool either way, but having a little extra wiggle room isn't bad. But I think if its over 600+ limit then it prob belongs in a blog post.
@jordan31 i'm talking about timeline control, which should be a user option not a server option. Note that if I search for a hashtag or look at the timeline of a specific account, the large posts are fine. It's just the "Home" timeline where it's irritating to see spontaneous posts that flood all other posts off the screen.
@jordan31 Apparently the feature may already exist: https://theres.life/@josias/105987667089077669
@resist1984 I was not aware of this. I mainly use Tusky or the web adv interface.
@resist1984 agreed, it could work the same way CW and visibility of certain content works currently. This is a great suggestion and it should be added in as an option.
