You thought Trump was bad, just wait until Elon Musk runs for president with Kanye West as his running mate. No joke.

Musk used Twitter to invite Russian President Vladimir Putin to join him for a chat on #Clubhouse, saying "It would be a great honor to talk to you."

@imgn that is a bit terrifying. On the one hand, Musk wouldn't be quite as reckless & harmful as Trump, but for that reason Musk is also more likely able to get enough support to take power. Would be interesting to see if the white supremecists are enthusiastic about a /black/ VP who is racist & dismisses slavery as a "choice".

@resist1984 I fear Musk would be far more harmful. Partly for reasons you mentioned: he has a much broader appeal as a charismatic megalomaniac and a large cult-like fanbase already. But also because he is more powerful than Trump ever was: he is already succeeding at colonizing space with the military's help and is recklessly swaying financial markets like bitcoin and dogecoin for his own benefit. I could go on. Kanye will be a sideshow.

@imgn well, certainly Musk is smart enough to do more damage than Trump.

@imgn turns out this nightmare is entirely fictional-- is not US-born, and therefore ineligible for .

@resist1984 This occurred to me as well, but he is a naturalized citizen of US (and Canada), so he may have some elbow room. I don't think he is that smart in general, but he certainly knows how to use his privilege and capital to game the system. For now, though, let's just think of it as a fictional nightmare :)

@imgn A naturalized US citizen cannot be . Like Arnold Schwartzenegger, he can run for governor and probably any state office, but he has no chance of being president.
