@resist1984 it seems to just be Google news primarily thatβs doing it. I think they just post so much they flood it without even trying? π
@resist1984
Yeah, I see no reason why that hashtag should be used on those posts. It sure is posts about news, but not about Google!
@resist1984 It's likely that this is some unauthorized bot that is posting these. I can't imagine Google joining the fediverse using some random instance.
@resist1984 That's not really Google.It's just a single stupid bot you can simply block.
@resist1984 Hashtag culture will maybe adapt to this situation and nobody in the fediverse will hopefully search for Google hashtags anymore over time. I'd suggest to use #degoogle #fuckgoogle and so on anyway. These hashtags will never been used by Google themselves.
@irkiosan the problem with #degoogle & #fuckgoogle is that they don't fit well into the flow of a msg unless you want to introduce a distraction to whatever the thesis is. So you have to stick them at the end, potetially blowing msg limits. And trailing tags don't get leading newline if you use #bitlbee. Msgs that use trailing tags also get less notice vs inline tags.
@resist1984 I see. That's the way it is, obviously. The big players won't let anyone play anywhere without control, disruption or manipulation. This is #narcissism (on a more abstract level). #culturalnarcissism
@resist1984 Weird, I'm not seeing it.
@BalooUriza yeah I noticed accts on other nodes don't show the #Google flood. It's a consequence of the #fedi.
@BalooUriza looks like it's been fixed. privacytools.io admins may have blocked that account
@resist1984 It's entirely possible someone, for whatever reason, set up a bot to forward Google's posts from another network.
@resist1984 yup, I had to block them before I could see anything else other than the not.
