I am SO fed up with how homeless people are treated at *any* service that has anything to do with money.

The patreon payout is now hanging at payoneer which requires me to have an official address and prove that with an official document no older than 12 months. Both of which I DON'T FUCKING HAVE.

And of course fucking payoneer didn't fucking tell me that this is needed *before* the damn transaction.

Can we just set this shit on fire?

@phryk you might be tempted to get a virtual address (e.g. anytimemailbox.com), which exists for that purpose, but banks are now keeping track of those kind of addresses & rejecting them. It's really irritating legit ppl are refused business on the absurd assumption that they're criminals. OTOH, is quite evil as it imposes , so we shouldn't be using them anyway.

@resist1984 Well, patreon offers paypal and payoneer. I only opted for payoneer because paypal I already know is a piece of shit and couldn't reclaim my account…

@resist1984 And I only opted for patreon because liberapay wasn't an option due to *their* payment processor troubles…

@resist1984 Yeah, the problem is that there's literally no alternative. Patreon is a fucking de-facto monopoly. :/

@phryk US-based entities can post a mailing address for paper checks to cut out all the abusing control freak MitMs, & European entities can post SEPA IBANs. For cross-border payments there's (which is still hard to get, but /#OpenCollective/#Liberapay are a bad trade-off)

@resist1984 Yeah, but this shit is fucked up all the way to the "legit" banks.

I haven't had a valid banking card all year and can't get a new one because I don't have an official address. And because the banking card is needed for TAN generation, I can't even *log in* to my online banking.

I'm just basically locked out from anything that has to do with money.

@phryk I'm locked out of many of my bank accounts b/c they're either -hostile or they force GSM 2FA, or they only work w/a Google app. Yet I can still operate the old-fashioned way (paper checks).

@phryk I'm not sure why you need a bank card to do checks, but when my bank stopped auto-renewing my card i was able to walk into a branch and get one in person. They shouldn't need an address for that.

@resist1984 Already tried that over a dozen times. They won't give me one. Plus now I'm over 1000km away from the bank, so online is basically the only thing that would work for me.

Might get an account on one of those online-only banks, but first a friend has to send me an android device because of course this shit doesn't work with only a computer or a dumbphone… 🤮

@resist1984 You're legally obliged to have an account, and my bank even charges me 9€ a month for the damn thing – literally because I'm too poor – but apparently you're not entitled to actually being able to use the fucking thing…

@phryk ah, europe. Well I understand a bit better now. I'm guessing France or Italy, where the banking fees are extortionate. In the states you have to prove the address you open the acct with, but can easily change the mailing address w/out proof. EU banks practically want your realtime position.

Follow

@phryk i know of one EU bank where if you ask them: do you want my correct address, or the address I can prove with documents but no longer use-- the bank wants latter & cares not about the former.
