Going to try DuckDuckGo as my primary search engine and see how it stacks up. I'm getting a bit tired of the results that come back from Google, especially when they think I'm searching for popular media.
(Note: not interested in debating or commiserating on Google, DuckDuckGo, or really anything related to privacy and security. Blame the folks who tired me out on this before you).
@craigmaloney One protip: Read the https://duckduckgo.com/bang and memorize/write down ones for any site you hit more than once.

@craigmaloney @mdhughes The novelty of the bang! notation & DDG itself died with me when #DDG's evils began to surface (https://dev.lemmy.ml/post/31321). But I've since heard that the bang! shortcuts have been built into browsers (iow, ppl need not feed DDG to use them), and there are searx instances that scrape DDG.
