@resist1984 @oilyfish Thanks for the suggestions! I think they are on the right track: the fewer clicks needed, the better. #LaTeX would be ideal for his books, but I don't want him to need to debug his document or look out for mismatched parenthesis. #Asciidoc sounds promising -- do you know a good editor to use with it? Preferably one that exports with a single click? How error tolerant is it?
I was already thinking along the lines of #org-mode and a (heavily) down-configured #emacs... ;)
@resist1984 @oilyfish Yes, I think that would actually be a big improvement over how he turns things in right now..
The most important thing is really that he doesn't have to deal with a complicated UI but can still do *some* formatting (or I won't be able to convince him..).
Ideally, there are only few (large) buttons, and no other sensitive elements (no tabs, clickable status indicators, ...)
I'll look some more into asciidoc editors -- thanks again for the tip!
@resist1984 @hanno That reminded me that I used to use Lyx - sort of a Latex front end. I recall you couldn't do things like accidentally put extra spaces in, etc. Might be worth a look.
