The single most #privacy-respecting search engine is searxes.eu.org, but it's currently down due to attack. It may be a few weeks before it recovers.

Until then, #metager has an onion site in english (http://b7cxf4dkdsko6ah2.onion/en) which also has a proxy feature. There is also mojeek.com and ecosia.org.
