@fruechtchen @switchingsoftware @paulakreuzer Everyone who worked on a movie for a wage or salary already got paid. It's only the studios and wealthiest who take a hit on piracy, and some of the studios are worthy of boycott anyway -- #Disney in particular.
@paulakreuzer @switchingsoftware @fruechtchen The best way to support an artist is to attend their concerts. Not sure about actors but I suspect they get more from theater revenue.
@paulakreuzer @fruechtchen @switchingsoftware indeed. But just to be clear, I think very large majority of performance revenue goes to the artist, independant or not. Record sales have a predatory clause that states the record label can collect their costs first, which is abused so artists less popular than Madonna get nothing from record sales.
@resist1984 @switchingsoftware @fruechtchen Yeah, you're probably right, that musicians get the most share from live performances. But still there are the venue owners and the marketing apparatus and what not, who all get a share. I guess sometimes some of them are decent people too though. ;)
@paulakreuzer @fruechtchen @switchingsoftware Don Henley famously said at one of his performances: "go ahead and pirate my CDs - I would rather my fans steal from me than the record label." (according to Richard Stallman, who I think said Don Henley only got like 10 cents per album).
@switchingsoftware @fruechtchen @paulakreuzer The live performances are not subject to compensation to record labels, as I understand it.
