@jonarvid jonarvid Last time I was looking at the printer market, it was disturbing to see that the most #opensource-friendly among brands is the least ethical in other respects (#HP).
@jonarvid i recall that the most ethical printer maker was Oki (formerly Okidata). Not sure if it relies on #nonfreesoftware though.
@jonarvid not sure which printers respect consumers enough to not call home. An egress firewall would block it, or alternatively you could get one of those old network boxes designed for LPT or USB printers. Although it would still be nice to know which printer maker is compatible w/a free world & worthy of patronage.
@jonarvid one of the big factors w.r.t privacy is #trackerdots. Be sure to buy a printer that does not surreptitiously print its serial number in nearly invisible yellow dots.
