I'm curious, what do you guys use for navigation? You have very little options when it comes to privacy right? This has to be the hardest area of privacy conscious decision making.

Man, crazy that it really is hard to avoid the use of Google services for navigation. πŸ˜…

@redcoqui There are really no good options. OsmAnd is the only even slightly viable option, though it doesn't compare to Apple or Google maps. If I had to rate them I'd say

Google Maps: 95/100
Waze: 90/100
Apple Maps: 80/100
OsmAnd 20/100

@redcoqui To be clear I have used each app for significant periods of time and many many routes each.

@redcoqui
Google Maps :(
On the bright side, GPS is somehow broken on my smartphone, so even Google can't track me when my WiFi is off.

@redcoqui I like OSMand from F-Droid. Otherwise magicearth works decently I think.

@TheDoctor I'm gonna try out the former. Thanks for the feedback!

@redcoqui there's no real good one here so I just use apple maps πŸ˜ŠπŸŽπŸ—Ί

@Wetrix I wish I could. With an Android device. I'd rather use it over GMaps... Although, I still have a Google infested ROM 😩 It wouldn't make a difference on privacy. I would switch to Lineage OS but then the camera app would be screwed because, and I may sound like I know what I'm talking about here but I don't, the API for the camera is closed sourced and Gcam ports can only do so much. πŸ˜…πŸ€“

@redcoqui yeah, I think any tracking software is hard to make truly private you think?
