I used it, paid for premium, to monitor connections when I bought my phone, to understand which apps are phoning home.
It's a great software!

Normally I use a proxy or a VPN for extra security though, so no need for NetGuard.

@redcoqui I use it sometimes to associate apps with network connections. The problem is that almost every app I use needs network to some degree so really it doesn't grant me any security without spending a lot of time creating filters. As an audit tool to find apps you trust aren't making weird connections it is probably fine.
