True paranoid would be ALL: ALL, but this setting has a nice ring to it.

@salsa20
I think they post outage statuses on their twitter account, they should also post here

Because that will beat the purpose of you giving the toy to cousin like present, its like they ordered the toy and you just brought it.

@one@mstdn.io
My guess is that they feel "corrupted" when they take money for something they do out of pure goodness. Recieving money beats the whole purpose of their doing. For example: You have cousin who would you like to give toy to, but when you give toy his/her parents jump in insisting to compensate for that toy. Would you accept that compensation?

@greyor
They don't do the same thing, Signal is way secure because of forward secrecy and no metadata leak. I don't care if carrier knows who I am sending sms message to as long they don't see what text I am sending
@salsa20

@salsa20
Silence for e2e sms encryption, Signal as IM. Yes, I agree that Silence is bit outdated, but its only way for encrypting sms messages, afaik. Also, we don't have good data plans so sms is our way of communication when not at home.

@greyor
Virtual box is cool if she has good perfomance pc. Dual boot is bad, I had problems with system time changed on Windows with dual boot. Dunno, but I know for sure that its hard to change peoples habbits, even when you explain why your alternative is better. I guess they are just stubborn

@greyor
Its perfectly legit solution if she only does web browsing. My brother doesn't like Linux, because software he needs for his work (he is electrical engineer) is Windows exclusive. I have same problem as he, thats why I have two SSDs with two different OS, and I only use Windows when I need it for work. So, if your sister also uses some Windows exclusive software then she has a point why she doesn't want to use any Linux distro, why bother?

@Mremail
It doesn't matter if they don't store logs or have some backdoor that will enable government to read your searching data and you can never know that. Overall, I prefer VPNs outside "eyes" since they have more privacy respecting laws, and government can't ask for logs that easily like in "eyes" countries because law says so. Also, all info is shared among "eyes" countries if you are person if interest to some of them.

@greyor
Yes, me too. I installed Signal and Silence to my parents and couple of friends, and gonna install soon Ubuntu to my friend which only uses computer for web browsing. I see that as my two pennies in this whole story

@greyor
Yeah I understand you, they will switch to something else (worse) when Facebook dies

This is the best FOSS tool for accessing your Google Drive folder, even with multiple accounts:
astrada.github.io/google-drive

Note that when copying large files to folder it may seem stuck at 99%, whole copying process is over when file is uploaded.

Everyday, we stray further from light

@kankuman
Oh well, don't know for your device, my guess is that it should be just fine but don't take me on that, wait for someone official for responce

@kankuman
Not recommended, yet. I tried Ubuntu Touch on my Nexus 5 and it wasn't smooth experience. Its promising project, but still under developed and it just needs more time and funding if you want it to become your daily OS for phone. Support them if you can, but don't expect too much if you decide to boot it on your phone.
