Using Deepfakes for a comedy show is a Very Good Thing.

This introduces the concept to the populace as something more than theory. It's a product being sold to you right now.

This means that when it's later used to frame someone for a crime, it will be one hell of a lot easier to convince a jury that it's even possible to do.

Btw, deepfakes have already been used to frame someone for a crime. We just won't be hearing about it until it's a feel-good news story 40 years from now where some 70 year old man is exonerated and given $1000 by the government that falsely jailed him for his trouble and valuable time.
