decentralization does not (necessarily) mean censorship resistance

if a nation state can block access to a domain, they can trivially block access to all the domains listed on fediverse.space or similar sites

It is more censorship-proof than centralized services, for example everyone of us could selfhost a mastodon instance and not list it anywhere, how will state blacklist all of our domains? They could but that would take a lot of time and effort

@nikolal it's not really possible to disguise the existence of a mastodon instance because they all publish all known peers through an API endpoint
