@nikolal its because HBO is only releasing it for free to people who will vote in the US. If you aren't, your vote doesn't matter in the US (unless a citizen voting absentee) and so they'd rather you pay for it. If you're getting it for free they stand to gain more you seeing it than you paying for it.

Trump looks godawful in the interview.

@gray does OnePlus still support unlocking their bootloader and maintain their warranty even if you root? Or did they stop that too? Either way this is bad but it is a little less bad if they haven't gone back on their root policy.

@georgia they both have their merits. Corn for tacos, flour for everything else. That's my position on this contentious topic.

@georgia Cyrillic is easy. You just memorize the sounds for each letter and now you can read out loud, it is phonetic in 99% of circumstances. Ezpz. Now, all you have to do is learn the meanings of all the words...

@fribbledom I agree with the second half of the title, but the first half... Just because you paid for something doesn't mean it's worth what you paid for it.

Also, wouldn't the axiom apply to this free article? It reminds me of the old paradox of a man who said "I'm lying".

@JapanAnon
I used to really like NewPipe, but the app has gotten bloated as hell. Old NewPipe, before comments and optional accounts and SoundCloud and Peertube support was really good. An RSS reader with a video player built in, and background playback, would be perfect, forget all the youtube specific stuff. Then you could at YouTube, Bitchute, Peertube, essentially any video host with RSS support, without worrying about APIs.

So there are some interesting things that and can't do. For example, Pleroma shows replies to threads you are not in (and you cannot turn this off outside the Pleroma web UI) and Mastodon cannot mute conversations like Pleroma can.

I've found this github.com/hometown-fork/homet which has some interesting features, most importantly, local only (unfederated) posting, which is great for communities. I think I will run a server eventually.

@JapanAnon
I'm a little sick of NewPipe to be honest. It keeps getting more buggy and less useful. I subscribe to videos on everything other than YouTube with an RSS reader.
@Twelve

@astheroth jealousy is the bane of existence. People who are jealous ruin everything.

Youtube is about to remove community contributions like closed captions/subtitles:

"Community contributions will be discontinued across all channels after 28 September 2020."
