@georgia so there's a HackerNews thread on it where the conclusion is that Chinese companies are doing it to show a tracking number so they can get positive american reviews on their cheap plastic crap they call an economy.

@georgia yes, we all agree on this issue, we are not a cartel. Ask every one of us, you'll get the same answer!

arrgh mateys! It appears tons of source code has been leaked from many prominent companies due to insecure dev tools:

I'm trying to use my desktop more when I am home. I find myself using my phone for everything social and comm related, which is most of what we do online, and so I find myself not doing the cool things i want to be doing.

@kambing you ever consider a matrix channel? much more popular with the mastodon crowd and has more features built around file sharing.

Or have you considered a pleroma instance for memes only, or a group, or a separate account with meme minded followers? maybe even pixelfed? i dunno, XMPP doesn't seem well suited to meme sharing groups.

@kambing lol I'm in there but I'm just getting inundated with memes from you 2

@adam

Why are they all wearing labcoats? You don't think that's a propagandistic approach? I'm sure you've heard of the Milgram experiment. Maybe the goal with this conference isn't scientific at all.

Not doubting their credentials, for anyone who would like to toss some links with credentials at me, nor am I doubting the validity of the science, but the first question by the audience, "I'm glad you're preaching this message" really tells you what is happening here.

@georgia breh just ditch your carrier and get a new one. No reason to be enslaved just to give those fuckers your money.

@astheroth you should try to make it. I make my own and it is easy and cheap.

@JoYo me too, but I've found ways. Like keeping my phone in my shirt pocket. Or extending it with a short aux type cable.

I refuse to charge 2 batteries to listen to whatever.

@Wetrix

@Wetrix lol I tell people, wired headphones. Passively powered electronics are always superior to actively powered electronics where there is no novel use case. The same applies to dumb devices vs smart devices. Does the additional tech improve the primary use case in a novel way? The answer is almost always "no" but the use case to the vendor or manufacturer is improved, and that usually means data collection or vendor lock in.

Just plug your headphones in and turn your stove on manually.
